    Fan headers

    Guys,

Please does anyone know how much juice one can safely pull from the fan headers on these boards?

In other words, what are the headers rated at (Watts and/or Amps)?

The User Manual for most boards gives you the figure but there's nothing in the manual I got with this board. I checked the Biostar site but there's nothing there and I mailed Tech support but they don't know either.

    Any clues?

    Thanks in advance.

    OB

I just installed the new Bios, when Vista started every device got recognised again. Don't know if there are (m)any improvements
    since the beta from november.
But maybe its a sign, that biostar hasn't totally given up on this board. I got new RAM (OCZ Blade low voltage 1066MHz)yesterday,
maybe this BIOS does help to stabilise my Board over 500 MHz with my Q9450...

Looking forward to hearing some results
Am wondering if this new BIOS will give any performance/stability improvements.

    Talking 4GHz reached with Q9450

So i've played with the settings a lot. It's been priming with 4GHz now, but i don't think it is stable. Super pi 32m doesn't like it.
But i don't think it's because of the new bios. Up to now i never gave a lot of voltage to this processor. Also haven't played a
game yet. So i don't know how long i am able to run the board with 500MHz.

the P45AA416.rar bios doesnt work for me. Are there more people getting problems with it? If i manually set my chipset voltage but he dont get that and runs on his original setting, so i cant change it....

The newest, P45AA512.BSP someone tried this one out? I dont get it better with this version but there is a new function, pll nb chip. i dont know what i must do with it

a quad at 500 mhz FSB is very difficult to maintain stable on this board...a dual core is fine at 500 mhz, but not a quad core unless it is an exceptional chip..and..not many of those out there.

suggest you lower the FSB down to 485 Mhz...ace

i hope you did not try to flash with a "RAR" extension because that is like a "ZIP" file...the real binary bios file is inside the 'rar' folder.

Anybody tried this yet? I haven't even had time to flash it yet. Just found out a couple days ago. Must say I'm surprised. Thought everyone at Biostar had completely forgotten about us.

-P45AA416 - Bugged LCD (doesnt show cpu temps), bugged vMCH hardware monitor (i guess the vMCH actually changes, but it doesnt show it in the monitor)

-P45AA512 - vMCH in hardware monitor is fixed. LCD still bugged.

This last two betas have upgraded memtest and added the option for MCH PLL voltage.

I would stick with the P45AAB03 (11-2008), because of the issue with the lcd in the new betas.

    Well
    Today is a bad day
Benched on SS earlier, got my e7300 to 5G,
Then turned it on to have another go, then it suddenly turned off,
Then, went back to air, reset the CMOS, and then nothing, I had wiped the area to make sure not condensation or anything,
But it looks likes the board has short circuited,
Anything I can do, i take it the warranty is void?
All that happens is the fans turn on for less than a second, and then a red light comes on on the back of the PSU and nothing.

No, coz the whole thing stops in less than a second,
The fans begin, but then nothing,
I think ive shorted it, will probably try to RMA, as there is no physical damage to the motherboard.

Tested further everything than superpi is stable @3.94GHz with 493 MHz FSB. Don't know if it's a other problem, prime is stable for hours, Intel Stresstest too.
I also tested my old Conroe E6300, i only got it to benchstable 520 MHz. Anything higher it doesn't like. My board isn't an monster in overclocking.
With my OCZ low voltage Blades it defaults to 2.1 volts, it only needs 1.8 - have to set it to +0.05V to get near the default voltage. But it's nice ram, stable
    at 1020MHz 4-4-4-13!

railmeat are you using the new BIOS? I'm wondering if it is worth it to bother flashing the BIOS or not?

I've been having issues with my 295 and had to do 2x RMA, was wondering if this new BIOS fixed any issues or provided higher OCability.

it's an official beta bios. It has a bug with the cpu temp. in the lcd. But you will see many new options and tweaks if you upgrade from 710.

yes a little vdroop, for example in bios you set 1.30 vcore and cause to vdroop raise to 1.29,maybe in frecuencies more high this really matter.
