How big of a difference do the subtimings on RAM actually make? Does anyone have a guide to adjusting these?
on this kit (i believe it's elida's chips) tRFC is really important, around 15-20Mhz more if you set the best value.
Some CL 8-8-8-21 stability test (Prime on Blend test). Memory voltage still set on 1.66V...
At 2Ghz system boots ok, but crashes after a few prime seconds. However, CL 8-8-8-21 @ 1940Mhz isn't bad.
8-9-8-24-5-72 1T 1.65v, i can run 8x32M at 1040Mhz.
My review is out, if you want to see more, go there : GSKill Trident 3x2Gb 2000 CL9
Nice review Benji Tshi, thanks for posting.
Some CL 7-8-7-21-10-72 1T @ 1.66V stability tests (Linx & Memtest+, stable):

also for me the best voltage is between 1.55 and 1.65....
with higher voltage i improve the freqeuncy, but not so much... so i think that2000 cas 8 with 1,59 is very good
is normal thif a person want see 2000 cas 7 or push the voltage to 1,71 or buy the perfect storm... but with an higher price.....
i am very happy to this memory
Ypep, thanks to both of you.
When using tRFC 60, clocks are lowering too much, this timing is really important on theses chips -> another point which means that it's elpida, from my point of view.
Now, i'm just waiting for same prices kits from other brands, maybe good surprises as this kit.
The chip on trident is selected elpida BBSE....
Are very good in cas 9, because they are very stable and have a good signal to return on the IMC. This chip with good i7 are stable with low VTT in many mainbaord
the only recommendation, with all the chips Elpida low volt, don't give more 1.7 volt modules in daily, if you do not want to kill them in short time.....![]()
Thanks for confirmation as to what was hiding under those chunky heatspreaders, guys....
Great thread, great review and cool clocks coming in
Can't wait to get a decent i7 board and have a play with my set![]()

Hey, Yea, I'm good
Just been alittle busy these 2 mths.
Haven't logged in for awhile.(Especially OCX... oh no...) :p
o0oh... I missed benching alot...
Nice rams I must say.
I did a max validation on my kit.
9-9-9-24 @ 1.65v tRFC 72, tRRD 5

Mine do nice @ 8-8-8-24 @ 1.65v too.
Somehow, my kit don't really like tRAS anything less than 24.:p
Hehe...

Indeed that's not my kit. I suspect that mine are Elpida chips, because I can do 950Mhz CL7 stable. Other Trident kits I check can`t even run 1.9-2Ghz on CL8 @ 1.65V.
As you well said, it`s a lucky question, with this kit you can get nice Elpida chips or not....
