WTF where is the i7 920 going? I was planning to buy a very cheap(£155, fu intel) X58 mobo along with the 920, now that 6gb DDR3 sticks are so cheap. Why are they discontinuing 920's? maybe to boost i5 sales, since they almost overlap

    kinda sad

They AINT discontinuing 920. The OP is wrong. Its about 940 and 965.

If they discontinue 920 you would get a 930 for the same price.

I've heard rumours that the 940 is going end of life once 950 is established and there wont be D0 940s, likewise with the 965 & 975. So since D0 920s exist it is unlikely that it will be discontinued. The time line for phasing out C0 i7s is down to Intel shifting the 'old' stock into the channel.

Actually if I recall correctly the i7 aren't actually selling all that well (given economic climate it makes sense) and they haven't made that many either. They got most of the crazy extreme people at or around launch, but if you look at the pricing of the i5 vs the i7 the i5 is rediculously expensive for not performing as well (on first benchmarks).

Intel probably saw the reviews where people are like, uh? Get the 920 or whatever instead, costs about the same and performs better.

    About a million is sold?

Anyway, i7 and i5 performs the exact same besides extreme memory benches. Its the exact same core. Just 3 vs 2 memory channels.

1 Million out of how many there Shintai? What percentage of shipment of CPUs of JUST Intel did i7 make up, just last quarter?
