Hence it's probably not true.

Intel have been pretty dumb in the pricing of their i7 and C2Q's against PhII, so I wouldn't be shocked if it turns out to be true.

So I believe Lynnfield @ 2.8 Ghz priced same as i7 920 will end up being faster of the two.
Thats the usual way. When EOL comes, it is generally accompanied by replacement by a faster product at the same price point.

Whats i7 marketshare anyway ? Less than 1 % ?
