As you know most peeps get higher OC's with HT off, do you think its better to have stable OC running at lower speed with HT on or higher speeds with HT off ? This has been on my mind for a while as i have read that having HT on only improves performance by about 10%

That really depends on if you're using HT I think.

Well as i'm only mainly into gaming and listening to music...no video editing ....guess HT off would be best option for me

I'm in process to figure this out, will have to run some benchmark (PCMark Vantage, everest, etc) to compare 4.40Ghz with HT enable vs. 4.50Ghz with HT disable to see which one I would pick to run 24/7. Other than Photoshop CS4 I have not seen any game or apps that can fully utilized all 4 cores left alone 8 threads, I use my machine for photo/video editing, gaming, movie and music playing. Keep in mine that clock for clock you would see almost 10'C reduction with HT disable, if yours is approaching 90'C underload with HT enable, you probably want to disable it, or go easy on the overclock.

Seems both weeks clock very good, there are good 47's and there are even better 47's... and there are good 49's and even better 49's... I don't think it would matter right?

I would be atleast as my cpu need over 0.1 MORE for HT at same speed (4,2Ghz) and hitting over 80c with my WC.
While in HT off, 4,2 i get about 67-68c on highest core in Linx with 1.36.

That's one nice looking "air" machine you got there.

Here's mine so far... waiting on an XSPC RX 360 Rad. to hold the temps down then I'll shoot for more.

Nice, very nice. Don't know what mine will do for an hour at 4.5ghz prime style as temps will get a little hot on me. I am sure it would be right in line with yours.

Nah, I'm sure yours will be better since you only need 1.200v for 4.2Ghz with HT. I bet with proper cooling you can prime at 4.5Ghz with HT on at max 1.35v. Nice chip you got there.

Edit: The only potential problem you'll ran into is whether your board will allow stressing at a high bclk.

True that. I have made a couple attempts at 4.5ghz but BSOD's. Prolly need some more fine tuning. What mobo you using? What VTT?

4.2ghz with HT on stock voltage Prime stable on air? Absolutely outstanding i would say. Really golden chip. I can't imagine what this chip will do on water.
