My HDD score is 7.9 with write cache off, 7.8 with cache on. That's two Intel X25-Es on adaptec 5405 in R0. Boots in about 15 seconds. Friggin XP used to take 30 for some reason.

I turned off write caching on my disk, my HD score went from 3.0-5.9, even when i turned it back on and re-tested it still gave me a 5.9. So my new base score is now 5.5, limited by my RAM

how do you turn it off????
What effect does it have apart from windows score??

^^Go to your device manager, then find your disk and right click. Then go to policies and uncheck 'enable write caching on this device'
(somone correct me if im wrong)
If you enable it, your writing things to your disks cache, and you disk tells your OS that its done writing even if the info isnt on you HDD yet. If you have a power loss, you will lose data that is in the cache but hasnt been written to the disk yet, and your OS wont know that anything has been lost. So itll never say 'data loss' youll just possibly experiance some bugs if important info was on the cache. Turning it off means it doesnt get written to the cache which means things move faster, aka right to the disk. If you enable it, your system will be faster, but at risk. If you uncheck it, itll be slower (but transfer quicker+Win 7 gives you a higher score) with no risk

Is a score of 3.0 for a RAID-0 of 2x Seagate Barracuda 250GB 7200.10's normal? Or is there something I can do to increase the score of these drives? The non-oc'd i7 system scores 7.4 for both CPU and Memory. The 7900GT obviously doesn't fair too well on the score with a 5.2 for 3D Business and Gaming Graphics.

That is truly weird when you consider that my 4850 scores 6.5. All this proves is that the Windows Experience Index is worthless as a benchmark. Its sole purpose is as a guide whether or not your system is up to Windows 7 demands. The total score is based, after all, on the single slowest element.

5.8 let down by a fairly non-descript 500Gb WD HDD. Even though my card is 18 months old it gets a 6.0 on Graphics which surprised me a little.

Just curious.
I have seen 7.9 marks in all tests but in the Gaming graphics one. Can anyone with a 4890 Tri-CF or GTX285 Tri-SLI on Classified E759 post their score?
I guess W7 doesn't like 3g of ram. other than the mem score about what I expected.
