ya, its definitely easier for you to just do it yourself. Slibri and I stumbled upon this mirror trick about a year ago while fooling around with some acrylic scraps and paint. Word of advice, take it slow working with acrylic, specially the thinner stuff. Drilling or cutting thinner acrylic too fast can lead to cracks, just something to keep in mind. Also, to aid in removing the protective film, I found it's easiest to use a heatgun or hair drier to heat up the film. It warms the adhesive, allowing you to remove the film easier from the acrylic.
