Good work with the PSU modding and thanks for the pics. I was also wondering about the white fan mod i have heard about it and i know how to do it but i would like to know how it looks in the case on and off. Thanks so far for all the great feedback. Also a suggestion if at all possible for performance i would suggest either facing the fans on the tripple rads in cause i've had some pretty good number changes from having fans push air through rads rather than sucking it through like a straw. Well thats all i have to say.

Yeah I'll get those pics up as soon as I get it done. I just got a new camera today too so they won't be crappy cell ones =D As far as the fans on the rad goes, I know they work better blowing air through rather than sucking the only thing is that the whole point of a para-flow system is to put two rads in the front without pulling any hot air out from the case or adding any more in. If I had them blow into the case it would just add more heat to the inside. However... I am thinking of putting a wall of sheet metal between the rads and the case to block it off so in that case it wouldn't matter and not to mention that it would look better... Hm... I think I might just go ahead and flip those because once that wall is in there won't be any air going into the case from the front anyway and it would just exit through the front grate rather than being sucked through it. Thanks for the thought =)

(Wow it's amazing how my mind totally flips in a single post...)

yeah thats exactly what i was gunna suggest if u came back and said but the heat would go into the case... and might i suggest a black mirror to put in as a divider it will look so much better than sheet metal. ill have to get some pics up of mine... when i build it... but ill try to show you what im talking about by the black mirror. i mean my current case is nothing to brag about its an old server case i got for free and i modded it alittle. good work so far cant wait to see it done.

Thanks for the suggestion and offer but I think I'll go ahead and use sheet metal painted flat black. I'm trying to avoid reflective surfaces as much as possible but perhaps your pictures will change my mind.

I'm in the process of putting parts of the comp back together so I'll get some pics up in a few.

    UPDATE

Stripped down to the metal (well almost)

    temp storage

    blades ready to be painted

    220mm fan painted

    and put back together

I flipped the HDDs around and re routed the optical drive's cables and painted both flat black, looks better huh?

    I like this a lot more =)

All of the fans put in place

Now I still need to drill a hole I forgot to in the top corner of the case to route the top and rear fans cables and also drill the holes in the bottom for the new pump locations. Oh and I still need to bondo up the top hole, sand, and paint it.

We'll see. I have my woodtech class again tomorrow and I need to bring in my case anyway to do some things I forgot about and I'm going to see if he has any sheet metal in stock. I'm trying to spend as little as possible right now because I'm supposed to be saving for college. I'll let you know though what I decide. It looks great though =)

that's the deathadder isn't it? I have the copperhead, razer makes some great products.

    Just a small update

So I didn't want any LEDs in my top fan and I also figured that I won't ever have it on any setting other than medium because high is too loud and low doesn't really blow that much air so, I figured out which wire combo was medium for the switch, traced those back to the PCB and then bridged the connections. I didn't need the switch any more so I removed the wires from the PCB and now all it needs is the red and black power =) If anyone else wants to do this not bridging anything is low, 1 and 2 is medium, 1 and 3 is high.

Oh nice =) Yeah I'm thinking of getting a new mouse and keyboard at some point. I've integrated bluetooth into the desktop so I want to go all wireless. I know that razer just came out with a wireless/wired mouse but they don't have a wireless keyboard =/ Meh, nothing I need to deal with any time soon.

Yeah im using a wireless micrsoft keyboard and i hate it... but ive heard good from other brands of wireless keyboards. For mice i am going soully with wired because as much of a hasle that the wire is i like the response over ease of use/ travel. but for those college bound wireless might be good. and im willing to make the mirror for free so w/e man its up to you its yor case i dont want to make you not like it.

Well I guess I don't need a wireless keyboard, I just want a wireless mouse because the cord often gets in the way and it pisses me off. I was just looking at the Razer Mamba which is their wired/wireless mouse and it looks awesome. I'll put it on the list of unnecessary items to buy ha. As for the mirror, what's it made out of? I would need to be able to mount 3 reservoirs on it, 4 holes for tubes from the front rads, a hole for the wires from the pumps as well as holes for mounting the mirror it self to the case.

1stly, love the way you painted the fan blades
been thinking of doing that myself, but im afraid of spoiling the fans
    any tips on removing it?

2ndly, nice idea on the rad placement

the mirror is made out of plain old acrylic sheets, so it is fairly easy to drill and cut. The process for making a mirror like that is pretty simple. Take the protective film off of one side of the acrylic (after cutting it to the desired size and shape). Using gloss black paint, paint the side you uncovered. Let the paint dry, and then uncover the other side and tadaH! acrylic black mirror. It's easy, and cheap

Well what I did is remove the sticker and then remove the little rubber cap. Insde there's a little hard plastic (on my big fan it was metal) lock washer that has a slit in it. What I did was take two VERY small screwdrivers and while I held it in place with one, wedged the other down and under the slit and sort of worked it around till it came off. After that there's a normal pastic washer and then a rubber washer. At that point the fan can come out and then inside the fan blade is yet another rubber washer. There's a step by step tutorial somewhere around here. I noticed that once I put them back together that some of them were off balance but I'm sure that's because the spray can was retarted and started spraying globs of paint so it didn't get exactly an even spray but it's not too bad.

sniperbob: oh nice, yeah that's a lot more simple than I thought it would be. Well if I do decide to do that I think I'll go ahead and do it my self so I can cut it and drill all the holes before I paint the one side. I'll be sure to give you credit of corse if I do use it.

ya, its definitely easier for you to just do it yourself. Slibri and I stumbled upon this mirror trick about a year ago while fooling around with some acrylic scraps and paint. Word of advice, take it slow working with acrylic, specially the thinner stuff. Drilling or cutting thinner acrylic too fast can lead to cracks, just something to keep in mind. Also, to aid in removing the protective film, I found it's easiest to use a heatgun or hair drier to heat up the film. It warms the adhesive, allowing you to remove the film easier from the acrylic.

Yep... it's really easy to cut and drill and its pretty sturdy too... not as sturdy as metal but it should work if u decide to use it.

Alright thanks for the idea guys =) If I don't use it in this project I'll probably use it in a different one. I love the look.

    woooo update

    LEDs

    Divider

Well the panel is in place and painted black with the holes for the pump wires to go directly through it which is good. Now that it's all in place though I can start figuring out where I want the tubes from the rads to come through as well as how I want to mount reservoirs to it. It's coming along =) I tried to put the top back onto the case but the mesh that goes around the 220mm fan gets in the way of the LEDs so I'm going to need to work on that a bit. That fan sits in between them but there needs to be some sliding room because the top slide-locks into place.

Here's my idea for the res system. First of all, I was a dumb ass and had the inlet/outlet's mixed up in my head so the pumps positions are actually reversed of what they should be but that won't be too hard to fix. The two pumps will go over next to the PSU and I think I'm acutally going to put the 3rd between the rads in the front. I just think it'll look better. So here's the plan (awesome ppt drawings)

The two on the outsides are going to be the CPU and GPU loops which will use the two radiators in the front. Quick question though, will there be a huge performance drop if I go rad>res>pump>blocks vs. pump>rad>blocks>res? If not it would make this a WHOLE lot nicer looking...

I seperated the next two images so that it wasn't all clustered but this one represents the two loops that will be for the CPU and GPU (I plan on tapping and putting 45's on my D5's fyi)

And then this one represents the mobo loop. I think I might place it on it's back though so the outlet goes directly back out the wall again because this needs to go to the rad on the back of the case so I could run the tube along the bottom instead of going up then cutting across.

    Thoughts?

Nice build, only thing I miss is some dustfilters, but that would remove the pretty fans

Put a filter between the two rads so you don't see anything. It may not get all but most. I wonder if I could do this on a 900 except 2x240s.

Well what would be the point of a filter when none of the air goes into the case I can just blow the dust of of the rads from time to time and it'll be fine.

So I had a bunch of parts sitting around from my previous builds so I spent a bit of $ to get a rig up and going to sell so I will have more money for this project... so in the mean time I decided to put what I have back together so that I don't have pieces scattered all over my room. Basically since the last time I updated this I changed the pump locations so that they're facing the right way. Also I figured out in order to do what I want with the reservoirs I'm going to need to do them above the video cards because they sit too close to that wall I built. That means that I'm going to need to go with the EK-100's vs the 150's but that's alright, it will work just as good and will look great. I also got a tripod which means I can take low ISO dark shots and not need to worry about keeping the camera steady. Here's what the comp looks like with my top LEDs on and all the parts that I currently have in.

Oh and note, no RAM or CPU. Those went into the other build that I'm selling so I can upgrade to a Q9650 and faster ram in this one.

I need to figure out how to light the bottom part of the case. The video cards block any light from really getting down there.

Alright so just an update on what I'm going to be doing with this rig. I know it's slow going but it'll be worth it.

So since my plan was to upgrade the CPU and RAM I figured I mine as well spend the little extra $ and go I7 since the only other thing I'll need to get is a mobo (which will be here next week).

So I've been juggling the idea of going with some SSD's for a while now and I've seen some cool ideas where you can fit 8-12 of them in two 5.25 bays (which is all I have really to work with) so here's what I think I'm going to do. I'm going to build a 5.25x2 bay to 10 2.5" HDD bay so that I can do SSDs and/or 2.5" laptop drives (which are getting really cheap now and are SO much smaller than normal drives). That will not only allow many drives to be in one small space but that allows me to rebuild that black divider so that it goes all the way up to the bottom of the optical drive making it look much cleaner and allowing me to go with the larger EK 150's like I originally wanted to do.

I should be getting money coming in this week so I can start getting this project rolling again
