I think I might end up doing that just to settle the heat a bit but the room is nice a toasty - last night it got down to around 55 when I came home from dinner...so the top level was perfect even my girlfriend likes it in that room...the noise from 9 PC's is a little greater than she likes, but she does appreciate the warm air and the blue LED's and I thought I was entertained by small things...

Had the exact same conversation last night with the wife. She suggested that if i was cold I could sit in the garage as it was probable 25 DegC lol with all my crunchers!

I think I'll install a thermometer to get an idea of the temperature in there! Sure does get warm in summer but should be nice in winter!

That was me running around to the machines 4 mins before the day ended and manually updating them!

I got a picture in my mind of some crazy guy running around yelling into a cell phone while waving a book, feverishly stabbing at keyboard after keyboard, dropped the book, scream into celly while putting it down, pick up book, run to next PC, punch a few keys, turn back towards bookcase celly was dropped on, wait ... confusion ... what was I looking for ??? celly ... book ... what ... CELLY, spin feverishly run to the next PC, grab celly again, mad scientist hair sticking up on end from all the fans and dervish whirling ...
I actually laughed loud enough for my wife to ask what was going on !!!

I bet you guys already know this but there is a flag that can be added to your cc_config.xml file that forces the results to get reported as soon as they finish crunching ... no running around necessary. If you don't already have a cc_config.xml just make one in the base of your boinc data dir.

seriously, I do go and update all 6 machines almost every day between 7:45-7:55Pm EST to make sure all gets in before WCG's day "ends"
Old habit and yes, I sometimes forget but I have been known to get up from the dinner table and update the machines..

Still trying to resist (likley futile) the thought that if I just get rid of my P4 I can replace it with another i7 without it jacking up the elec bill and temps in my study.

What you see here is a bunch of guys that combine a hobby and a desire to help others.
It's really hard to put into words.
I call these guys the "Good Hearts" and as simple as that is I think it says it all.

But I had better kick them on asap when it cools off a little this week, otherwise my phone battery will go dead

We stayed over there for a bit while XS was down, and TPU is trying to get a WCG team going, so they are helping out. Sometimes it is easier to get new members to join when there is more activity on the team

During the long downtime of XS some of the people from here went over to TPU, some of those people switched to the TPU team to get the crunching team off the ground, while some came back to the xs team some are still in the tpu team.
