    Lol Dinos, understated as always. The Classified has a couple of nifty features that help with cold benching. I might check out a Xeon W3540 next, seeing how this board can handle 8 thread high BCLK stuff for some of these benches. This one is the full retail board now btw, no longer using the early sample, so it's pretty darn good.

    i get excited when someone has something decent to post about

    looks like DFI and Classified have the highest QPI clockers to me and with these D0s it might be handy to actually have a board with highest QPI lol

    the other chip has an extra multi right...that should be even more interesting. You'll probably reach the CPU limit before you reach QPI clock limit

    Would you say that this QPI speed is CPU dependant or will the board be able to reproduce this sort of clockage on most chips from past experience.

    I have one 920 here that won't go over 210 even on this board. So the CPU plays the majority role. That being said, over 230 bclk needs the board to co-operate. Higher QPI bus frequencies are very demanding of optimal signal layout etc, which is typically where EVGA and DFI do a lot of extra work and it is beginning to show now.

    This 920 has incredibly low leakage, it draws only 140w at 4.6GHz with 1.438Vid (we checked with a clamp meter) when cold (-85). Conversely, it needs lots of drive current when at ambient so hits very high temps at low VID (not to be confused with gate leakage). Intel must have found a way to increase substrate density which really helps when you go cold.

    Not sure how many chips are out there like this as many have not started to bench them yet, or are using boards lie the REII which has high BCLK issues anyway.

    interestingly enough the CPUs that i;ve tried so far on Gigabyte UD5 have all come do a dead stop at 221MHz QPI basically.....everything benchable up to that point and then a restart when you try to go a hint better

    i might try a new Extreme board they are sending with a D0 chip and see if things have changed i guess as last time i tested anything i7 at home, dinosaurs were still roaming the planet

    That Gigabyte board sounds like the REII. This good CPU won't go over 222 on the REII for love or money with the current BIOS.

    Based on my experience, both are important when you clock QPI this high and bench with HT on.

    The IMC may be on the CPU, but there's still plenty of signal routing going on, so the board does play a part. It's just that most of us have not had CPU's that stress board capabilities uptil now.

    the extra $$$ for this board might be justified by being able to handle BCLK values over 220 and therefore not having to fork out the extra for the i7 965 and unlocked multis

    Lol Ron, if I lived closer it would already have happened.

    The cores on the chip are just plain nasty, I wish it had an unlocked multi. 5GHz wprime only needs 1.40V full load Vcore.

    Im just starting to play with my new D0 920 under my cascade on the Classified too...Im still trying to get my head around i7 overclocking though having not done much since socket 775

    so did you do much tweaking in the BIOS or mainly in the E-LEET tool? Totally understand if you cant be bothered with the below, but if youre feeling generous Im trying to work out the various voltages and multipliers you used in the Classified BIOS to get these speeds that youre getting hehe
