Have a set of elpida hypers right here on the desk, not cooperating on gigabyte yet. I think theres an issue with the 1600 divider atm.....trying to get the powers that be to fix it as fast as possible.

Oese whenever I am vague about my settings or voltages there are two reasons.....1 my bench settings are kept somewhat to myself and or 2 they are far from safe and can do considerable damage if proper steps are not taken, this is my way of keeping RMA at a minimum, sadly not all of us are responsible adults........I'm however more than happy to share prime stable settings with anyone etc settings that I consider safe for 24/7 usage.........

If you want to fill in the blanks just type in "UNSAFE" for my voltages.....

Anyone here know if there are any longevity effects to running 2V or so on PII with DDR3? I bought some DDR3-2000 rated at 1.9V for the 955 setup I intend to do this weekend. (I'll be posting results here)
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.

    Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.

    Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

    Rule 3:
When it comes to computer news, 70% of Internet rumors are outright fabricated, 20% are inaccurate enough to simply be discarded, and about 10% are based in reality. Grains of salt--become familiar with them.

Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!

    Random Tip o' the Whatever
You just can't win. If your product offers feature A instead of B, people will moan how A is stupid and it didn't offer B. If your product offers B instead of A, they'll likewise complain and rant about how anyone's retarded cousin could figure out A is what the market wants.

No clue yet,I have stressed them higher however with no deaths....no longevity involved though.

although i dont think anyone could blame you when trying out your settings and have the ram dieing due to do so, i understand the point.. so i can put in something at least and people know that those are HIGH voltages xD

@ particle: i think up to 2.1v should be safe as i suppose its the same architecture electrically as with those ddr2 controllers, and i ran 2.24v 24/7 on them for some time and higher and never a phenom regardless phenom I or phenom II died on me... I think with ddr3 this issue is quite solved as vdimm decreased a lot anyways..

I think over 2.0v could be the limit i dont get many gains going over 2.0v! I will try and get a faster cas6 done tonight! Am considering buying some corsair Dominator GT from here http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...=8&subcat=1392

Has anyone trys these on a Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P!

we will assume noone here is interested in such xD

adjusting htt in windows environment together with voltages etc etc makes testing a lot easier of course.. unfortunately we have to go with bs aod to do so

k10stat is ok for be processors, but for ram... nb of course not possible at all.. so, boot it

you use advanced cooling? looking at your nb clock this comes to my mind...

probably the imc likes advanced cooling and then higher memclocks are possible...

Nice, I coudn't do that on the review bios's, sticks didn't want to play nice at high speeds....just got a new bios, will try again. Might just be the giga don't like the sticks to much. Seems everything on QVL list clocks like crazy and stuff not on list it hates.

    Those the v3.1 dominators?

Yep. They have been seriously abused by the previous owner though, so I wouldn't be surprised if other sets clock even better.
