Is there a Rampage Formula thread where people post at overclockers forum?

I'm in a bid of a dead end. No matter what i do, when i set FSB > 471 - LinX failed on second loop. I'm testing 8.5x475. I'm 100% sure, that it's MB/RAM problem, cause 12 hours of SmallFFT makes me think, that the CPU is stable. Than i tried 475x8 - LinX fail. So, tried playing with MB/RAM voltages, with PL, with Mem Controler vrefs, A,B channel vrefs - nothing. Could AI Clock Twister@Moderate/Strong be the problem or i need some dram clocks tweek?

    You're welcome.

Now that you've got a stable 4.3GHz you can try to push it some more. Take small steps 5 or 10MHz.

Here's the link to the thread on the ASUS Rampage Formula forum for my 8 X 465MHz, DDR 1199 and tRD 6 BIOS configuration. It's the last post of the page.

You can find the configuration for my 8 X 465MHz, DDR 1117MHz and tRD 7 on the first post/page of that link.

All I need now is a BIOS that fixes the issue with DDR speeds above 1200MHz. The 3:4 memory divider seems to be broken and pushing the memory above 1200MHz makes the board randomly fail in Prime95 although the memory is MemTest86+ V2.11 stable.

    So, where is BIOS 09XX?

    Sorry for the BIG OT.
I know that A-Grey and mikeyacame have a good relationship with Asus customer care.
Can you push in some way Asus to work not only in solving RF BIOS bugs, but also to unlock Xeon cpus on LGA1366 motherboards?

For more informations, see THIS thread and "Unofficial Rampage II Extreme" thread on this same forum.

I think you've got your first issue with your ASUS Rampage II Extreme that probably never will be solved. There is no official support for XEON CPU's on the ASUS Rampage Extreme II.

You can ask this to the ASUS Tech Support with a Technical Inquiry Form but I think that you will get the same answer.

Memtest86 is more for checking dimms, than overclocks, as Memtest86 will not tax the MCH hard enough, HCI Memtest is a better choice for checking ram overclocks...I have seen many many Memtest86 test pass only to fail in seconds with HCI Memtest.

Yeah, I know but having 1199MHz at 1.8V stable and can't get a stable overclock at 1239MHz no matter what voltage you use or PL or whatever.
The board fails with memory above 1200MHz. This can happen after a few hours or a few minutes.

The longest I've got it stable in Prime95 was around 5 hours and Linx 11 passes.
It isn't always failing in Large FFT's it could be in Small FFT's as well.

I've got only one conclusion and that is that BIOS isn't prepared to run 2 X 2 Giga above 1200MHz. I have to say that I need to delay DRAM CLK Skew on Channel B with 50ps to use PL6. I don't need it to use PL7 and all Phase Pull-ins enabeld or disabled. This seems a bit odd to me. The fact that I'm not alone experiencing this with this G.SKILL F2-9600CL5D-4GBPI kit on the ASUS Rampage Formula is proof enough that it's the board or the BIOS.

If you take a look at the QVL you'll see that I probably bought the wrong memory. I should have bought 4 X 1 Giga 1250MHz Corsair Memory. So, there is no limitation of 1200MHz on the board.

You can't run it at 3:5 with the FSB at 430MHz. You need to run the memory at 1433MHz for that and I don't think that this is possible.

Leave everything on auto if you don't have problems with these settings. You only have to change it if you overclock your memory and you can't run it stable at the speed you want it to.

Can someone help me with my Q6600 overclock...
I can boot into XP fine, but its not stable yet. Everest's stability test would detect error after ~5min of running.

    My spec:

Q6600 VID: 1.2625 (according to core temp)
    NB idle: ~57 C
    NB load: ~64 C

Can your memory run stable at 453MHz?

That's something you have to test with MemTest86+ V2.11.

You should have bought 4 X 2 Giga PC2-8500 memory. With that memory you would have been sure that it could run at 953MHz.

    You have many issue...
266 strap will be hard to get stable
tref at 42 or whatever it was will not work for 8GBs of ram, 55 or higher will be rquired for stability.
your NB temp is kinda high imo, you should look at trying to lower the temp.

425x8 850MHz ram PL7 (6 with phase pullins) would be a better option, you can tweak the ram timing to get your bandwidth down

Your suggestion is very good. There might be one problem. A PL 7 isn't possible with CL 5 at 850MHz. If he can get his memory at 850MHz and CL 4 stable, he should go for that configuration.

    CL5 running 850MHz PL7 is not possible???
    I would have to disagree

running the X38 Maximus with a rampage bios for well over a year I have never had an issue
CL4 PL7 is were issue's start, I dont have the Rampage powerd up yet, but I have run a Rampage bios from day one, I was one of the first ppl to flash my X38 to an X48 bios and have never seen this issue

I do agree if he can run CL4 then do it, but I cant see how looser timing will result in a det dram...

    Let's see.

    tRD - (tCL / N) > X / N

    For FSB 425MHz -> X = 2

    N = Memory Divider

    tRD 7 - (tCL 5 / N 1) > 2 / 1

Not possible it's both 2. A tCL 4 is necessary.

With a FSB lower than 400MHz it would be possible because X is smaller than 2 for lower FSB.

    Thx Grnfinger and A-Grey

I took u guys advices and now I am stable @ 430fsb x8 with 1:1 ratio, PL8, 5-4-4-15 (ran 1 hr everest stability test... currently running ortho overnight)

I know my NB temp was high so I added a TT Spirit II (still waiting for my HR-05 SLI IFX to come) to NB and Enzotech Cooper HS to SB.

    under load,
    vcore read 1.296, all 4 core topped @ 60 C, NB topped @ 60 C

I tried 438 fsb / 440 fsb with unchange settings, but all failed within 20 sec of loading... did I hit a wall? I want to get 3.6GHz stable...
