Looking to upgrade from a 7800GT

As the title says, I'm looking to upgrade from a 7800GT to something newer. So far I've found these cards, but I'm looking for opinions on which one to pick and possibly alternative options.
    Code:
    card price	brand
    9600GSO 70 MSI, 384MB
    9600GT 82	Asus
    9800GT 100	Leadtek/Gainward

    3850 66	Sapphire
    4670 65	Asus/Sapphire
    4830 92	XFX
My current rig is in my sig, but I should note that I plan on updating to C2D when I have the money, in which case I would like to keep the videocard. It's not an option to just make a whole new system, and keep this one as is, the video card fan is going bad and replacing it is pretty much pointless. The card needs to be as silent as possible when idling, noise at load I don't mind that much. Not sure if it makes a difference, but my PSU is a Tagan 480W from 2005.

I play mostly old games, but at 1600*1200 (19" CRT if anyone's curious) preferably, and looking to play Diablo 3 for example with some eye candy in the future.

9800GT or 4830. In this case, you get what you pay for. If you're in the USA ("Land of Weed" isn't really very helpful), I'd spend an extra $30 and go with a 4850 for $130. Apparently also comes with a free copy of STALKER Clear Sky.

My bad, land of weed meaning the Netherlands. Also forgot to mention that I don't really want to pay more than 100 euro, and a 4850 is at least 125.

25 euro is $50 in my currency. Having used both those cards in my time in client builds, I'd definitely consider it a worthwhile investment to spend the extra, especially if (as it seems if you've kept that 7800GT for this long) you don't upgrade often.

Wait for approx. one week to see how the HD4770/50 get priced. It should have better value than the HD4830 and a little bit more performance too, @~90€.

The CPU isn't that bad but dude, at least get another 1GB of RAM.. Many games are demanding 2GB as a minimum requirement.

Lower power consumption and (hopefully) noise as well.

Read the second and third posts. The OP isn't in the USA, we're not talking US dollars, and NewEgg doesn't ship internationally.

    HD 4830 > 9800 GT > 9600 GT > HD 4670 > 9600 GSO > 7900 GTX > HD 3850.

I would save some money, get an HD 4670 and get a 19" LCD.

In no way the 7900GTX is faster than the HD3850.

But from that list, I'd definitely choose the HD4830. Just don't forget to add another 1GB of RAM.
