Hey brunormt have you tried running just one stick at a time to see if it would come to life?

With my G.Skill 2 x2gb 1066 PQ mem I pushed the clock so far it would not boot at stock. My first thought was one dead stick.

So I pulled one and then it booted then it also booted with the other. So I put them both back in and it booted right up.

Then I pulled my PQ and put my HZ back in. Althought the more I think about it I did like the 2 x 2gb.

It did not clock as high and it was never as horrendously fast but it was still very fast.

Try pulling one at a time and let us know.

Yeah Vinny I am running a E8600 now too. My daily clock is 4750mnz!! Coupled with my 260GTX it does everything I need really well....

This motherboard is as good as any!!

I will move to the I7 eventually but for now I am doing just fine thankyou.... Very much!!

4750Mhz for a daily clock is frigging amazing, I mean 4.5Ghz for me is def. possible, but theres no chance in hell I could do 4.75Ghz 24/7...

I settled for 4.3Ghz daily, which is the setup I posted benches on.

Im just curious, what is your 3dmark06 score since I would love to know your CPU score, and if possible your Vantage CPU score w/out PPU.

Here is my 3D06 score at my daily clock. Note the vid card is set at stock! At this speed I can keep the vid card at stock speed and do everything just fine.

    So I have an Asus p5e flashed to rampage bios 1201 with a q9550 @ 3.6 425 mhz NB.
I am wondering if this board can handle a 450mhz nb for a 45 nm quad. I wanna get my q9550 to 3.8 or possibly 4.0 but I'm not sure if this board can handle it. So my question is, before I start ocing again, can this board handle a 450mhz or more for a q9550 for 24/7 use?

I was told the X38 doesn't shine with the quads and you will need the X48/P45 to really push the fsb with this cpu

I guess you should try and let us know

hi! im currently testing my new Q9550 on my P5E x38 mobo (RF701)
i cant semm to get past FSB 440... (my Q6600 G0 managed to pull FSB 458)
another issue i seem to experience is that FSBT (VTT) is gets a HUGE vdrop.
set 1.400 in bios and get 1.328 output in HW Monitor (also in bios).

as i stated above im currently stuck at 440x8.5=3.74Ghz with 1.336 (wich seems awfully high).
to get that stable i had to bump FSBT to 1.44 keeping it at 1.38ish in HW Monitor (bios).

also this quads vid is 1.2625, quite a blower

any suggestions on what i should try next?
    many thx in advance!

Flash to RF802 or newer and set the new Cpu clock skew option to Delay 100ps and NB clock skew to Normal. What NB voltage do you set?

yeah.. was also thinking on flashing to 802, cpu clock skews might come in handy.
vMCH is 1.51, i tried 1.57 to be certine that it was not the NB and indeed it was not the case.
changing strap from 333 to 400 didn't seem to change a thing.
also tried set PL to a higher number (10-12).

    thx!

    Nice scores WZ.....nice boobs too
I am having serious problems with my P5E3, anyone managed to get a QX9770 running with 8GB of RAM (Ram being @ 1280Mhz on the 333Mhz strap)?
QX9650 also does not like running @ 1600Mhz FSB too, yet both CPU's work perfectly on a DX38BT motherboard.
ASUS have spent 6weeks trying to resolve the issue as they could reproduce it too, yet to no avail.
Seems that QuadCores do not like the P5E3 (note different board layout to other P5Ex based boards as it uses a 12V ATX connector NOT a EPS12V)

Thanx a lot OLDComer!! bios RF803 is a life saver
delayed cpu clock skews 100 ps and left NB clock skews @ normal and got my system stable at last.

    one last question:
when anandtech fried their qx9650 with 1.4 vtt...
where they refering at a bios setting or at a HW Monitor sensor report?

above settings work stable for me.
the thing is that i can't manage a stable boot a that strap with FSB444+
    any thoughts on that issue?

i tried pushing different voltage combinations and even tried to further delay CPU and NB clock skews getting a negative effect on stability.
im now at 450 but with strap 400 and PL (tRD) at 14 (could try lowering it to 12-10, i'm letting it as is for testing reasons).
it's not stable but it boots.
one thing that bugs me is that i need a dramatic increase in vcore 4 it, not to mentione almost 1.4 VTT (HW Monitor)

    Try:
    DRAM Static Read Control [Disabled]
    Ai Clock Twister [Strong]

Try 1.57V/1.59V/1.65V NB voltage but cool the northbridge actively (60/70mm fan over the northbridge will do the job).
As far as I am concerned RF802 is better bios. RF803 needs 200ps cpu clock skew and 100ps nb clock skew.

have an 80mm fan sitting on top of my video card blowing air to the NB HS.
NB seems cool at touch with 1.61volts..
i just hope thermal paste on the NB HS hasn't degraded yet

the clock skews you suggested helped a bit, but im still sitting at 450 unstable.
also tried to run NB at 1.65v for no effect.

any suggestions on CPU GTL and VTT?
i am now trying new settings (CPU GTL 0.62x & VTT 1.38 (like 1.3 in HW Monitor))

another thing, is it useful to fiddle with NB GTL or is it best to just leave it to 0.67x (or Auto)?

i think im getting close on a right tweak for CPU GTL so to use lower VTT.
maybe the clock-jitter caused by high VTT on the FSB is what makes my system unstable (?)

    many thanks again!

NB GTL - just leave it to 0.67x
VTT - try higher values (1.36 or 1.44 or 1.50V bios set)
CPU GTL - try AUTO or 0.63X
    bios - try RF802

    VCORE - try higher vcore
LLC - try disabled load line calibration

i just did a major breakthrough..
changed memory from yellow to black slots :0)
this made my sys stable at less vNB and Vtt i think..
will report back after i properly test the effects on stability.

    forget my last post...
seems like even if i was able to post with lower VTT and vNB i still cant manage to stabilize my system at even 444x8x5
im now thinking on migrating to a P5E Deluxe, heard there is a much better chance in getting high fsb on 45nm quads.
just wondering, can i see the template of your 470x9 config OLDcomer? i'm willing to try that as last resort

thks a lot for all the help!

Actually, the last Rampage BIOS is 0902 (not 1202), and since it was in May, I'm 99% sure it will be the last one.

Is P5E Deluxe 0501 BIOS any good?

    Asus released it on 12/18/2009.
