120 hz - Is it worth it, and some opinions?

    Hello Everyone,

I am interested in purchasing the new Nvidia package, however I have a few questions:

    Is the 3D worth it?

Is the Viewsonic Fuhzion (or the Samsung Syncmaster 120hz) 22" able to run dual screen at the same resolutions as the Asus 24" (VK246h)?

Will I be able to set a Profile, so when a game is played or "3D" is on, monitor 1 is deactivated?

This is my primary monitor and would like to go Dual Screen, however, would like to play 3D on the Samsung or Fuhzion:

    Thanks!

I would say yes if they cost the same, but a big no if there is a premium for a 120hz panel. The only 2 reasons for a 120hz screen is marketing and to watch blu ray DVD. Since blu ray players display at 24 fps then it converts to a 120hz panel perfectly in a multiple of 5, while a 60hz screen does a 3:2 pull down method which means some frams are refreshed 3 and other 2 times calculated by a logarithm. You are getting 30hz from video sources such as your video box or your computer and it transforms into a perfect 2 ratio. Your eyes won't notice the difference. The reason you see why 120hz screens are better is because they tend to use higher quality panels, but my aquos 60hz does a good job at 2ms refresh rate and can't tell the difference between the 60hz unless you trying to split hairs. A good quality 60hz panel would do the job for gaming.

Well I currently have the Asus, and want to do Dual Screen. The reason I want to do the 120hz is for 3D to game on that sole one screen, but for all else, I'd like to do Dual Screen computing. (24 " asus on left, 22" 120hz screen on right)

Samsung 120hz is the pick for me. The 120hz is flawless in games, and if i'm not mistaken the samsung has a better picture.

120Hz is worth it if you're gaming a lot, otherwise not. 100Hz+ is the reason I'm still today using a CRT and would be going to hold onto CRT as long as there are 100Hz+ available in LCD and other tech as well and now the 120Hz LCD panels have finally appeared altough not the best, might still be worth to switch to it once they get available here. However the price premium you have to pay for a TN panel is somewhat discouraging.

For me any 120Hz LCD is better than the expensiest 60Hz so refresh rate matters at least to some people.
