for sure heat plays a role in the stabiilty of this chip.. even at idle!

i closed the room (which is small) where the pc is for a while (1-2 hours). heat was on a lil and wasnt cold outside. i saw core spike up to high 40's/low 50's. was very humid in the room. it was frozen when i came back to it (was up for 7 days non stop doing work (cpu/memory stress) on and off.

as an aside, i rebuilt with win2k3 r2 sp2, 32bit. wow what a difference! feels much much better now (xp would get stuffed up and things would slow down), and i reclaim the extra gig of mem which was lost from xp (win server32 does 36bit addressing using pae to get beyond the useable limit).

Finally got my PhenomII 940BE watercooled. Temps went from 51ºC idle with the stock cooler down to 30ºC idle.

Tonite i had my first real oc on this cpu:

This is with all 4 cores running.

I'm sure there's plenty left.

i am ittching to get a PII, but has anyone used this on the Giga MA790GP-DS4H? any bugs/incompatibilities? also, europe prices are still so expensive, its kinda sad

Chew has more info so I'll spare you my details. I did run mine on this board aswell with really nice results. hit 4ghz 3d stable. I still like the board, runs my 9950 now.

DDC+ 18 watt pump with Petra's top, PA120.3, PA120.2 both with YateLoon fans, EK fullcover vga block, FuZion v1 and EK multioption res 200mm.

Nice setup. I net the same results on water too. I know mine loves to be cool.

well i've figured out 1 hour of OCCT isn't enough to check stability.
regular browsing got me a BSOD while a torture test just gave me high temps for a hour

I only got mine to 3.5GHz (4 cores) with 1.45v. It is 12hrs+ OCCT/Prime stable.

I've tried to get to 4Ghz, doesn't boot into windows

.. anyone know if its because of temps? Im on air cooling, using Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer.. I did get it Prime stable (7hrs) at 3.7GHZ, going to try 3.8ghz prime tonight..

OOP im stupid, I forgot to reduce HT link, that makes a difference right?

I wanted to run on a lower multiplier and higher HTT to increase my NB but reached a hardwall and I can't get stable above 289

CPU also refuses stability above 3660mhz no matter which BIOS I try so this is the limits of my chip it seems.

Will update this post with a OCCT screenshot tomorrow.
