Anyhow, I would vouch for the Phenom II. I have both Intel and AMD computers, so not favoring anybody here.

The Q6600 is a great upgrade from your x2, but in reality its not really all that great anymore compared to what is out there now. If you can save some cash, get a Phenom II 940, and the ASUS M3A79-T motherboard is a great board. I had one but I killed it installing a water block. Now I just decided to try something else.

However, that board is very very solid, PWM is superb and will give you very very nice clocks on your cooler
