What mobo are you using? Does your CPU defaults to 1.08V Vcore as well when you leave everything at stock? Mine does...but my brother's defaults to 1.16V Vcore when everything is left at Auto (stock) and his is 3842A594 (vs. mine is the same as yours). I think the latest batch defaults to a lower Vcore when everything is set to Auto. It would be interesting to know IF the latest batch really defaults to a lower Vcore or if mine is the only one.

p6t deluxe. Yes it says 1.08v in BIOS on auto. Right now until I get better cooling its actually looking stable 2.67Ghz .95v BIOS (.944v shows CPU-z with 8 cores going in prime).

Not sure if it makes any difference if I use a different mobo than yours (Asus P6T Deluxe vs. MSI X58 Platinum SLI) but I might try the .950V VCore as well to see if it's stable. It would be cool IF I can get it to run with that low VCore. It would stay pretty cool. What kind of temp do you get with that low VCore?

Its still getting in the 70's under prime. This intel HSF is sucking. Those push pins are not holding it very good against the heat spreader. Its barely touching and I had to apply thermal compound to both sides just for that or the gap is too much. Its definately getting better cooling ASAP.

Yeah, the stock cooler sucks. I have an Ultra 120 Extreme and even that still doesn't quite cool it properly.

Shouldn't be too hard to find something to handle 4Ghz @ 1.225 which looks like what my 24/7 will be

What memory do you have anyway? My memory sucks...I should get 1600Mhz memory but the price just went up about $40 within the last few days. Is there something going on with memory chip makers?

6GB OCZ 1333 7-7-7-20. BTW I just got a Hyper N520 for the CPU. Needed something to fit in my Cosmos S with the fan on and I'm not going crazy on the volts anyway.

My mild OC low volts results. Still hot but much better than the stock HSF.

    i920 Asus p6t deluxe

    cpu in BIOS - 1.085v
    qpi 1.35v
    mem 1.66v
    HT on
C1E on (to keep idle temps low)
CState on (to keep idle temps low)
Memory OCZ 1333 7-7-7-20 running same timings at 1524.

    Coolermaster Hyper N520

Seems with the temps under control this chip will do
    2.67Ghz - 0.95v
    3.6Ghz - 1.085v
    3.8Ghz - 1.135v
    4.0Ghz - 1.225v

Ummmm, might want to leave p95 run a little bit longer than 15 mins to even think temps are under control. 8K does not load the cores at all.

Didn't have much time and have kinda been taking it a little easy as you see they are still in the 80's. Hoping the TIM settles and gives me slightly lower temps as well. Trying to decide if I want to go ahead and upgrade the HSF again or start the design phase for watercooling.

EDIT: I'm going to play around with the fans from a few diagrams I saw on the watercooling forum. One suggestion there may help a lot because when I had the q9550 the temps DID go up like 10C when I installed the GTX 295. If I can get fresh air out from the top the situation may be a lot better.

    4GHz OC

    Batch: 3837B290

I have no real need for Hyperthreading, so I turned it off.
    Full specs:
    Processor: Core i7 920
    Motherboard: ASUS P6T WS Professional
    Memory: OCZ 1600MHz 7-7-7-20-1T 6GB DDR3
    Graphics Card: ASUS EN8800GT
    PSU: OCZ GameXStream 700W
Cooling: Zalman Reserator 1 Plus (Koolance CPU 350 Waterblock, Zalman GPU and GPU-RAM water blocks in the same loop) With a pump mod (D-Tek DB-1 Pump).

I haven't tried for a higher overclock than this, because the Reserator compounds the heat, which makes it get worse as time goes on.

The Batch Number's above the picture.

EDIT: I know I didn't leave Prime 95 running for long in that picture, but I had it running for at least a few hours when I first started overclocking it. I don't often run my i7 at that OC because of the heat compounding issue with the Reserator. I let it run as long as I felt safe to let it run at the temps it was getting to (the first time I ran Prime95 for a few hours).

Handle it good at those settings? Kinda looking at the reserator XT. Though I only have to deal with 1.225v for 4Ghz. Or just spending the next 2 months trying to pick out parts. Thing is I prefer it to look more professional.

Welcome to XS Nemaster203. Seems like you found yourself a nice chip. Im rather sure it wil do 4ghz with HTT disabled at lower vcore

Oh sweet until I get better cooling (or fix what I have) it looks like 4Ghz doesn't totally thermally crap out with HT off. With C1E and CState on it drops into the 40's when idle as well.

All the Reserators except the Reserator XT are passive cooled; basically just a giant reservoir with fins on it. The Reserator XT is a hybrid of the passive Reserator design, and more traditional Active Radiator cooling. I believe the Reserator XT actually has 2 radiators built-in to it, with a small reservoir in one end. As I've said, the passive Reserators compound heat, unless you place them in a cold area or an air-conditioning duct. I have the fankit for my Reserator, but it still compounds heat. The XT will probably work nice though, since it's made for both passive and active cooling.
For those that don't know what a Reserator is, it's a Reservoir, a Radiator, and a Pump combined into one unit, which makes it a Reserator.

Thanks. I can't get my Core i7 to run stable at lower voltages than this, but I'm still fairly new to overclocking. I'm only changing the memory ratio, bclk, and the Vcore, so there's probably something else I could do that I don't know about to get it higher, everything else is on auto.

P.S.- My motherboard won't let me change any multipliers/ratios except the CPU Multiplier and the Memory Multiplier (no Uncore or QPI ratios or multipliers). I only get 3 options at what I want the QPI to run at, in MT/s. The Uncore automatically changes depending on my Memory Multiplier.

Ok, i decided to stay with the 3842A. And just bought a shinny new DFI T3eH8. Currently running all stock volt at 21x150. I check the max stable with stock volt 1st cause i run at intel air cooling. Lets see.
