This does not affect newwer cards such as the Creative X-Fi Titanium. It works on all previous X-Fi cards apart from X-Fi Xtreme Music.
Creative suck for giving such a powerful chip but not allowing the users to use the full potential of the card. No DDL unless you pay for it, and even then if you activate it too many times it wont work. Here is my solution.
About 3-4 months ago I bought some Logitech Z-5500 speakers, which are AMAZING. but i installed Daniel_K creative drivers and on xp i am able to both encode DDL and decode DD 5.1 or DTS. I cant do botha t the same time but it means you can get dd from analogue speakers. I use my z-5500 for the decoding but its good for people that dont want to speaker 200 quid on speakers.
This is best done on a clean installation!
I've created a .rar file with all the fiels youll need. Just install the daniel_K drivers (Make sure u uninstall the original creatives ones first) then when you reboot go into safe mode. Open the DDL file and run the DDL Unlocker. when it says its finished reboot into normal windows and then install the DDL from the DDL folder. Reboot and voila you have a working DDL on x-fi.
Hope you get the same results here is the link:
X-Fi DDL Drivers
There are 5 parts.
I tried this when i just installed Vista and it didnt work because i didnt do everything straight away and i started looking on the internet ect. Make sure you do all of these things straight away without doing other stuff.
There is also another tip i've found very useful.
I've recently found out about distortion levels on the x-fi cards. Make sure your main volume in the Control Panel is at around 80% and if you use an Analogue connection from your soundcard to your speakers then your Wave should be at 60%, if you use Digital connection (Dolby Digital Live) your Wave should be at 45%. You can test your own distortion by playing the 16bit Windows Media Audio Lossless from this website. Loop it then gradually increase the volume from 10% until you hear distortion.
Here Are The Test Files!!
Hope you get the same results I got.
This really changed my experience of my Creative X-Fi Champion Fatal1ty (Now DEADI got an Auzentech X-Fi Forte though so im happy)
