6.4.6 is not recommended, there was some problems with it!

What do you mean- I have an older version on the computer at work and tried to install the newest version but got some kind of kind of error message. Of course it is working, merrily chugging along but I figured the newest version would be best.
If you look at the main dowload page, you can see it's not recommended any more, they changed back the recommended version to 6.4.5.
What was that error message?

You know I can't remember exactly, something about "error file". I got version 6.4.6 running on both my rigs at home, loaded up fine and am flying through projects on my Q6600- very excited. When I go back to work I will try and load the 6.4.5 version.
Just wondering what is a good average of daily work?
Maybe I'm a bit late with the answer, but you can also try the new recommended version: 6.4.7

Windows 64 bit
Average? On my computer it look's like this, rig in sig:

There were a lot of weird file access errors coming from 6.4.5 at WCG. Google it, but you might want to steer clear of that one.

Is it recommended to run the Boinc version rather than the WCG version? when I signed up about a month ago they had a link to the WCG version but I see everyone talking more about the Boinc version.
Many here run 64bit OSs and many more like to stay with the cutting edge to try and stay ahead of the curve for points and performance.
The WCG version is the one they have tested to their satisfaction above and beyond how Berkley have tested them, while the others are newer and sometimes give better performance and/or new features (but not always).

The WCG version and the BOINC versions are exactly the same, it's just that BOINC gets updated more regularly (since they're the ones making the client). WCG is currently using 6.2.28 while BOINC is using 6.4.x. That said, I don't know of any real issues with 6.2.28, and I think the PPD difference would be fairly minimal, so unless you're having issues there isn't really a big need to change to a newer BOINC version (although moving from a 5.xx.xx to a 6.xx.xx version does usually give a PPD increase).

so you are saying to get the best results I should have the latest version- and all I have to do is close down the boinc version i have now->download the latest version-> and install it and it will start working away with all my info like nothing happened? Latest (stable?) version seems to be 6.4.7
And Sunfire thank you for all the help and constant updates- I am head first into Crunching now and can't get enough of it at this point!!!

No. Sometimes the latest version just adds features rather than improving performance (think 6.4.5). How you go about installing the new version over an old one depends greatly on how you installed the old one. If it's the windows version then yes, just shut it down and run the new installer. (I think)

Thanks; I read that the WCG was 32 bit and Boinc was 64 bit; Is this not correct?
EDIT: Does anyone use the GPU version? Does this produce more points than standard? Unfortunately I do not have an Nvidia card though; I went ATI for F@H; of course they support Nvidia now too. although folding on gpu and WCG on cpu is working out pretty well.
