I'm using my 3841A627 ... Still keep hanging on 3,8g 1.23, but think its the heat, on stock cooling! im seeing 77c before it goes stuck..
seems like a decent cpu, 3,2 doin 1.024 ... new to 1366, this is fun.

Yeah, it was the heat, this stock cooler isnt much to the world, did shut HT off, and 3,8 was a go with 81c load..
seems like a good cpu soon my waterblock will come hell yea!

New 4.2GHz overclock that I stabilized yesterday, 21x200MHz at just 1.360V in CPUZ (1.376V actual). Here is a screen of a run I did with it this morning. Decided to open the balcony and let some fresh air in. Ambient temps around 17C.

64C on the hottest core using LinX (Linpack) 20-pass run with my new cooling setup running a customized CoolIt FZE with a Swiftech MCR220-QP rad and micro res in the loop.

the lowest coolant temp I have had on my boreas so far is just under 18, you got down to 10!
I will try to run 4.2 as you have, not sure I can get 4.2 at 1.376 but I will try - again excellent work!
Tell us some more about your cooling loop - order of components going to/from block, just the cpu? no vc's right?
what pump are you using - low or high flow, is your rad 2x120?, running all 1/4 inch or using reducers? ...

If you are staying subambient with your water you might want to lose the rad.
Based on reading in the tec thread - if your water is subambient the rad will heat it up to room temp.

I think I may have learned something new (at least new for me anyway) and maybe rather important for folks using chillers like you and I.
I was running a big floor fan (in the back of the closet) driving air out of the closet AND I was running a pair of 120 fans 3 in. away from the cpu block thinking that this was good for cooling.
Wow what a dolt I am, I turned off these fans and my coolant and cpu idle temps dropped 6C!!!
Prior to this my lowest coolant temps where just under 18, now I am under 12!!
Makes sense when you think about it, if a radiator can heat up subambient water - so can ambient air blowing on the cpu block or the tecs themselves!

Thats the sweet spot for a i7 965 is running with a 35 multi. 35 x 128 works great. And then with the ram at 2037 with 8-7-6-20 Timings, things run Quick.

wow - with qpi at 2x memory for 4074 - that has to be on the hairy edge!

There is a diagram there which shows the flow, but basically it is FZE > Block > Rad > Res > Pump > FZE

Using CoolIt's original 1/4in ID tubing and low-flow pump. No reducers or anything like it. Stock CoolIt block (soon to be replaced with a GTZ I think). My goal was not to get really low idles or sub ambient coolant temps, but to shave off and stabilize load temps. FZE alone could not handle the i7 past 4GHz adequately because of two reasons.

1) The coolant volume was too small.
2) Two blocks of TECs cannot cool the coolant adequately to remove all the heat generated by the i7.

Again, the point is only what happens at load. It's a funny game this TEC business lol :p

Oh and by the way...that's 10.7C while loading the chip. On idle I could go lower (probably 5C) but I have the TECs set to run at 100% only to 10C. As soon as I hit lower they go down to 40% power.

Yes this is very true. If you TECs can cool the coolant sufficiently on their own, you do not want to have ambient air trying to cool the coolant. There is a delta between the coolant temp and ambient that you need to observe and then adjust your system accordingly. With the FZE alone my coolant would climb to 37C-38C at 4.2GHz and core temps would hit 95C+ so I knew I needed something to keep the coolant temps in check and allow the TECs to cool the coolant easier. Shaving off 30C+ from peak temps using the FZE alone is no small feat.

I was considering to do some tests without the rad to see what happens in the system then...maybe I'll try this in the next few days...

Which block are you using? What do you think about a GTZ? Should I maybe get it to replace the CoolIt block?

One other thing to note is that because of the funky TEC setup that goes on with the CoolIt products, fresh cool air makes a lot of difference for me when going for low temps. With recycled warm air I cannot get such nice temps. Fresh cool air is necessary to better cool the aluminum block (TECs are dumping all the heat to the block). If you can't cool the aluminum block the system will just progressively heat up more regardless of how hard your TECs are working on keeping the heat off.

I find that it is a fine balancing act between the ambient temps, coolant volume, fan power, and TEC power. It's not easy to tweak this and in retrospect pure water probably would have been easier though not quite as fun . I also think that the Boreas is still a better solution than my setup but because of its size and noise it is inconvenient. You have double the TECs compared to me, and a much larger aluminum block which surely must make a difference.

Anyhow, the GTX 285 is an awesome card bro. You got a nice overclock out of them too! I think once I overclock the cards more and run my CPU at my bench settings, im doing the runs @ 4GHz which is my daily settings, I think I can get a bit closer to your score, how def. will not beat it. Lets see, i'll keep posting some runs as they get better.

that's the spirit mate My bottom card is riding the bottom of my case...literally; and has absolutely no exhaust. Single top card hits 771/1600/1406 with ease.

yep, I'm using the gtz - larglely because they had the first 1366 bracket.
That said - when I replaced the coolit block and pump with the gtz and the ST mcp 355 temps went - -5C down - see -
