thats the plan but there are so many things around the corner new controllers/ssds/interface
believe you me id rather have 4x x25e instead of this px crap
but i got these before x25e release
I hope to see 4x X-25-E to your controller.
Do you mean new controllers inside SSDs?
How did you find the firmware? I'm looking all over for g.skill ssd firmware.
Napalm can you try the new firmware on your Adaptec 5805 , they released new firmware today 02-18-2009 ( Adaptec RAID 5085 Firmware/BIOS Update Ver. 5.2.0 Build 16501
Filename: 5085_fw_b16501.exe
Date: 18 Feb 2009
Size: 1.0 MB
Language: English US
Version: 5.2.0 b16501 ) copy paste from adaptec site.http://www.adaptec.com/en-US/speed/r...b16501_exe.htm
I own an Adaptec 5805 and 2405 and both controllers are performing better now with this new firmware ,My 5805 and 8x 30GB OCZ Core Series v2 Raid0 are performing much better now with this firmware , seems to be more SSd friendly than previous firmware from August and December. Good day and thanks for sharing all this information and benchmarks , very usefull tread.
chispy.
i checked on the 18th lol they had nothing new.. thanks for the headsup
sure ill flash later today and give it a whirl
highpoint also released new beta fw for 3520 last week after ~10 long months.. but nothing has changed
ill redo all @ h2benchw/etc

5805 - before/after latest fw/bios
3520 - before/after latest fw/bios
the way ssd functions on these controllers is standard sata support
still no ssd support and even when they do add support.. support gets very very specific just like on the areca 1231
h2benchw coming up..

4x px raid0
1231 - 2048MB
1231 - 512MB
5805 - 512MB
3520 - 256MB
---
2x px raid0 for comparison
1210 - 256MB
i couldnt do ich10r right now.. will include it later on
This is all very interesting. When I'd looked at RAID cards it was simply about finding out which cards would work with the throughput that SSDs in an array provide. This goes to show that while the 5405 might well deliver the throughput, it places a fair bit of latency on things, and the end result is a poor performing array.
The last set of results you posted, was that with the new firmware on the Adaptec?
5405/5805 are capable of up to 1200MB/s .. and are capable of low latency .. its not so much the specs .. support/full support #1
yeah all controllers waring the latest/first updates of the year

Napalm ain't cheating/faking... he's just tricking.. Those benchmarks he's posting are just being tricked by MFT. I don't think he really thinks his system can perform at those levels. Just having fun... aren't you Napalm?
You could argue that it's not a trick, since his system does perform at those levels. MFT is just caching taken to another level. The whole point of MFT is to allow the huge sequential speeds of SSDs to happen.
but of course since its my results they have to be
does it hurt so much?
well ive included this @ post NOTE: please dont take these numbers seriously dont want to make anyone cry
i cant believe your asking.. what you take me for man.. of course just having fun
the only way i could test how really mft performs is to have another 4x px/arc1231 mfted array.. to test transfers between the two
i didnt get a chance to test apps/games yet
5GB/s indeed .. 12GB/s fastamundo!!
When MFTed it that booting from the boot volume?
flax gels
os: arc1210
mft: arc1231
