yeah vista is like coke zero... sweetener is cheaper than sugar, so they try to force it onto us even tho its terrible and nobody likes it.

Vista actually runs better in general. Aero and overall system responsiveness. General CPU crunching performance is slightly better in Server 2008. Ive tried Vista Business and Server 2008 Enterprise.

You can turn Aero on. I don't use it. I find it irritating.

Following shows some OS against each other. I think ServerEnt is Pre SP1.

i run windows mobile. it is far more efficient with my 4 gigs of ram and quad core cpu and gtx 260, components that vista64 never gets close to challenging in any form.

There is no Pre SP1 2008 Server. Windows 2008 SP0=Vista SP1. 100% identical base code.

Also you compare the OSes thats tweaked for 2 different purposes. Remove areo etc in Vista and try again.

With Windows 7 the server and client OS will be on the same service pack level again so to say. Windows 7=Server 2008 R2. But with Vista and Server 2008. Vista got +1.
