It looks like this chip maxes out at just under 5G on water and runs rather warm compared to my 820A324 with the same juice. This chip also hates any voltage beyond about 1.6v even on this torture rack which is a little strange for having a 1.26vid though the stepping is just average joe and runs hot.

Hello guys, I got a strange problem with my E8600 /VID 1.25/ on RE mobo
    - at frequency of 4 ghz /500x8/ it runs perfectly at 1.25 vcore and with every other voltages set to min /vtt 1.1, nb 1.25, sb 1.5, pll 1.5/ + all gtl refs set to -40
    - at frequency of 4.25 ghz /500x8.5/ it runs perfectly at 1.35 vcore and with other voltgages set also to min

The problem is, that I canīt run it stable at frequency 4,5 + ghz. When i try to load at 500x9 or 450x10 at 1.45 vcore or more, I can run small ffts without any problem for hours and hours... strange thing is that I cant even run large ffts - everytime I run it I got the freeze of the system in max of 30 secs. I tried to tune every single voltage, refs, skews a so no, but with no luck, even more vcore didn't help. I also run memtest whith no problems.

    Any suggestions guys?

You need more volts on the North Bridge.

I would agree on more NB vcore like 1.4-1.5v and perhaps increase PLL to 1.7. Your SB vcore should be lower like 1.25.

For this results i didn't use High Voltages on FSB Termination Voltage an PLL Voltage.

It is very interesting see you pushing Your CPU's at High Frequencies using a lot of FSB Termination Voltage an PLL Voltage.

As i know too much FSBTer. Volts and too much PLL Volts are 1st dangerous for CPU and 2nd for Motherboard.

The Voltages i use in 1st Screen are:
    FSBTer.V 1.20V
    NBV 1.20V
    PLLV 1.52V

    In Second Screen:
    FSBTer.V 1.26V
    NBV 1.26V
    PLLV 1.56V

The Maximum Temps i reached was 54C°.

My question is Why are you Pushing so Much Volts on FSBTer and PLL ?

For me running that speed of 2520mhz would certainly not require high fsb or Pll vcore but long term use of high settings can and will take its toll on chips. Im testing this new chip right at around 4.8-5G when benchin and more juice is needed, my cooling setup never lets temps go above mid 50s even at 5G ever. This new 823A221 is by far the hottest chip I have seen in a while and I am currently testing it at 577x8.5=4904mhz at 1.58v.

With the right cooling system a lot of things more are possible.

At the moment i enjoy more Clocking using Air Cooling and the limits are quiet different.

Maybe in a next future i will go on Water.

Without a doubt major cooling is going to help obtain much higher stable clocks and that is what I am into. My Torture rack is just one of three custom built liquid systems I have running right now in this room and contains separate water loops for the chip/card plus has ducted cool air intake for the rads and case which is a modded CM stacker. In the winter I use ducted fresh air from outside when possible and during the summer I have other types of refrigeration which work good also. Here is 32meg Pi I just ran about 20mins ago to test the high fsb on this P5K, nothing special just testing the water.

    Ordered from Newegg on Friday.
    Q823A221

    Just starting off. Wow!
My e8400 needed 1.55v for 4Ghz. I can't wait to see what this thing does. I can't believe I paid $269 for a chip that I didn't need. My e8400 was weak, but it was still plenty of power at 3.9Ghz. Hopefully, I get over $100 for my e8400 on ebay.

Pushing a little further. I think I'm gonna let it sit here for a little bit. With my e8400, I pushed it really hard right off the bat and it degraded initially. I'm gonna let this baby burn in a little before moving on . . . well, probably not. I'm not a very patient person. Should I not worry about PLL voltage, FSB termination and GTL ref until I get into higher clocks? Is it really just as easy as increase FSB . . . increase vcore . . . if vcore doesn't help, increase FSB volt . . . repeat? It looks like I have a stuck sensor too. It will probably start moving as I put some more vcore into her.

I am so glad I bought this chip. Sold my e8400 for $117 also . I can't believe how much some people are being USED proccessors for on ebay. There's E6700 going for over $100!

I'm not sure wether to push for 5GHz or not. If I push now, I think I'll have a better shot than if I wait. This chips seem to degrade a bit initially.

Quick prime95 small fft's test with my new E8600 Q820A597. I'll leave it for an hour more or so and then I will try 450x10.
Vcore might go lower one notch or two, not sure yet.

Hye folks ! Just seen this thread for the first time

That's what I've done long time ago now, but changin' the mobo soon for an EP45T UD3P, so guess it would be better than the MIIF xD

I was looking for the highest ram frequency : and that's what I reached :/ (for the mobo of course, my crucials are better than this)

    Hi all,

I have a problem with my CPU, I use CoreTemp and RealTemp to monitor the CPU temperature and in idle it shows 39š and 40š degrees and when I oc the CPU up to 4000ghz it shows also 39 and 40, I don’t think that is normal, can some one please help?

    Regards
