That's a good question. I'm also looking to pick up another motherboard and was considering a UD3P but have been hearing mixed results. I owned a ASUS P5Q for a short while (letting my brother use, have it? IDK) but never did any memory overclocking with it but it's a very nice board for the price.

For say $150, what's a nice P45 based motherboard to get that can handle high memory clocks? I heard that the cheaper ASUS boards have poor voltage regulation. How it the UD3P in that respect?

Do you guys have any experience with MSI boards? I was looking at the P45 Platinum.

I see you have one. How's the BIOS support? If I rem, ember correctly from the old A64 939 days they start their BIOS revisions at F4 right? Surely they have put out more than one BIOS since it's release? Why are using the first one?

Also how's RAM overclocking on that board?

for the UD3P it started with F3 and they are up to F8 now so biossupport is fairly decent.im on F$ cause im in the process of trying them all out.the uD3P gets better bios support than the UD3R.and so far i like bios F5 the best.here are a few good memoryOC's on this page.

Yeah awesome. I can't wait to really push this RAM. I got some decent speeds at 2.5v (my BIOS limit) but they just keep scaling so well with voltage that it's not enough .

I don't see anything close to the UD3P as far as features and price\performance go. Though I could do without the extra PCI-e slot. Thanks.

Oh also, I think my 680i is undervolting this RAM. When I first got this kit and installed them, my board refused to boot at the default 800Mhz 1.85v. I had to remove one stick, then set the voltage to 2.0v, shut it down then pop in the other stick just to get into the BIOS. I even tried them in the other slots but the same result. IDK. I should test with a multimeter.

Next best board for memory OCing is probably a P5Q Deluxe with one of my mBIOSes. Got my GKX sticks to 1200MHz pretty easy and even had the system POST @ 1300MHz with I think it was 2.3v. Not bad at all for GKX sticks. Bit more juice 1300 probably would of been stable.

if you dont need the extra pcie slot get the UD3R it clocks just as good and its only behind by two or three bios's and of course it cheaper.if you want the best P45 memory OCing board that would be the DFI DK-P45-TR2SBplus,or DFI UT-P45-TR2S,they both demolish all P45 boards with memory scores and memory performance.of course P35 and X48 will also do this

2-3 BIOS revisions behind is quite a large gap...

yes it is,but what people are achieving with the bios's available are still amazing,so i guess it kind of a trade of for the price

For people in the US, the UT P35 can be had at an absolute steal: http://www.motherboardpro.com/DFI-La...ATX-p-338.html

How does the DFI overclock CPU's? It always seems like a trade off with expensive boards. It's rare that you'll find the best of both worlds. Of course all tech is like that I suppose.

Also those boards you mentioned aren't that much more expensive than the Gigabyte. To me $30-$75 more is worth it for a better board. It's when you get in the $200 plus range that it's not.

What's the difference between the DK P45-T2RS and the P45-T2RS PLUS? So far All I can tell is 2 SATA plugs on the plus model. Unless the plus runs true 2x16 PCI-e?

The plus model also supposedly uses the newer rev. A3 chipset, which apparently OCs slightly better and needs less voltage to do it.

Someone managed 600MHz FSB with the UT P45 here. I also recall seeing someone manage that same FSB speed with the UT P35 somewhere.

according to eva2000,even though the P45 DK plus has the A3 revision chipset,he says that it performs about the same as the non plus version.

For the small difference in price, its worth picking up the plus version imo any extra chance of getting a killer chipset is a good chance.

i agree with you on that.if it was me i would go for the plus version, but for people who might be very strapped for cash, they wont be missing out too much,i guess is where im getting at.cheers

The UD3P is normally I good board, mines great at clocking my Quad (look at my sig ) but it can't do anything great with RAM. Even other people have broken 1700MHz no matter I do mine can't break 1360MHz

BTW my ram is pretty good it does 1066MHz CAS 5 on 1.9v.

    Nice

    I can't even do 1066MHz CAS4 on 2.3v

But i'd say its something to do with the mobo, cause on my old P5E I did 1111MHz+ on CAS4 @ 2.3v.
