Talking Snow Day?! LowBuget Benching / Domino ALC Guetto Mods / Q9650@5000Mhz

    Hey Guys,

Just wanted to share some results from yesterday when I decided to have some fun with $61 WC system from CoolIT and show it's possible to have fun in the snow inside the house

Now to the guetto mods and later benching session:

    [Domino A.L.C. Guetto Mod]
    Parts Used:
    1 x Wife's Domino ALC WC System - $61
    1 x Used Swiftech MCR 220 Rad - $20;
    2 x 120mm Lian-Li Medium Fans - $Free (came with my case);
    Some 1/4 Tubing and Fittings - $5
    Fill port - $3
    Snow - $priceless

So I first started by cutting the original tubes and attaching the new tubes with the MCR 220 in the windows pulling cold air from outside thru the rad. Fill the rads with much water as possible because to fill this thing is a pita because of the tiny pump! The rest you can do thru the Domino rad mini fill port that I replaced with a 7/16 tubing.

    This is the before:_____________________________________

    After:__________________________________________________

    Now for some temps comparison:
    Unmodded Domino
Water Temps always above room temp.
    Idle - 30-33oC
    Load - 65oC-72oC

    Modded Domino
Water temp always below room temp.
    Idle - 14oC-17oC
    Load - 37oC-42oC

That's 16oC difference on Idle and 30oC on Load

Pics with temps on same setup used to compare temps:_____________________________________

    CPU: Q9650@4352Mhz 512x8.5
    Mobo: Gigabyte EP45-EXTREME DDR2
    Cooler: CollIT Domino A.L.C.
    Ram: 4gb G.Skill Pi 9600
    Video: ATI HD4850
    PSU: SilverStone OP1000-E
    Voltages:
    1.32 vcore / 1.30vtt / 1.44mch

    Idle stock Domino:

    Load Guetto Domino:

    [Low Budget Benching]

Now for the fun part I was able to boot the Q9650@ 4999-5000Mhz with the modded Domino A.L.C and do some 4905Mhz 3D benching and some soft stability tests (no tweaks wazza, cache memory etc) etc:

    [3DMark01/SuperPi32m/wPrimeStability/Everest @ 4905Mhz and ATI HD4850]

At normal room temp is it worth getting a domino instead of a Scythe Mugen I ?

I would sincerely thing the Mugen would outperform an un-modded Domino by a little. It is cool because it's quiet and simple to use but the single rad cannot dissipate to much heat as a PA or better rads. If you into modding adding a bigger rad will make it very effective I added a Swiftech 220 Rad and at room temps it can hold a Q9650@450 Priming.

The original Domino will beat my Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer but I doubt it could beat a Mugen or a TRUE.
