    AMD Spi1M sub-11s closing: 11.140s with DDR3

    Overclockers (Team Finland):

SF3D & Sampsa with support of macci & kamu

    Test setup:

AMD Phenom II X4 AM3 engineering sample
    Asus M4A79-T Deluxe (790FX + SB750)
    2 GB Corsair DDR3-1800
Asus ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2
    Corsair HX1000W
    Kingpin F1 EE + LN2 cooling
    Win XP + SP3

We did a quick Super Pi 1M WR in XP @ 6144 MHz. DDR3 doesn't seem to help much in this single threaded almost 15 years old benchmark. We tested that last core (#3) could overclock highest so we used that with affinity setting. CPU-Z shows core #0 clock speed:

Sub 11s seems to require ~6,2 GHz with our current test setup & efficiency. 6,5 GHz for Sub 10 with liquid helium?

A pity this platform isn't taking advantage of the extra bandwidth DDR3 gives, at least not in Spi, how about 3d marks?

This one with DDR2 isn't far off: http://www.oohashi.jp/c-board/file/1...Ph2-6165.2.png

Nice timings for 853MHz by the way, did you have more dividers available to run 900+ on the mem?

~950 7-6-5 might give a little better result perhaps even though it's doubtfull.

Do you think that cpu has something left to go for sub 11?

No, but like explained before CPU-Z is showing clock speed of core #0.

You can adjust each core's clock speed separately with AMD OverDrive program and use the best one for superpi with affinity setting. We used core #3 which was operating @ 6144 MHz.

    Check Xtreme 3D Team section:

Is AMD Phenom II X4 + DDR3 capable to break current 3DM06 WR?

Hm, I had expected a 11.0xx run . Any backups left?

In any case, nice to see AMD's got DDR3 all working out nicely

Backups don't belong to Team Finland's policy :P

I also expected 11.0xx s run when you said that you're close to sub11s result yesterday. But this is also very nice result.
    The memory clocks great

Yuo all should have sen how we benched Sp1M on Friday.. We had only really small amount of LN2 left and we did everything as fast as possible.. And fast it was

If we would have interest to use 20L of LN2 for Spi 1M or pifast only, scores would be different. I have one CPU which can do 6.2GHz+ runs, but I forgot to take it with me to the event in Sampsas place.

These CPU's does shine in 3Dmarks, so for me this is not the most interesting thing. I like to see your results, there is more fun in it.
You are as good as your samples are!

I really hope you'll give the Pifast a shot one of these days: DDR3 should be boosting the Pifast score quite a bit (under 18s)

lol how ironic is this, in the past nobody would even think about considering buying and amd cpu so they could get it under ln2...now even LN2 is to soft for it..

    Impressive results guys!! I like

I said this after Phenom II launch, but meanwhile I'm highly sceptical.
    Sub 11 @LN2 is possible, but DDR3 + 1M isn't the perfect couple.

    Nice kicking start, Sampsa/SF3D

You've exceeded 0.001s than me again...I got 14.141s last Sunday
My guess is 6.25G~ for SP1M U11 with Deneb...
    BTW, I also tried 3DMark05, and reached 40075 @5.5G

No, but like explained before CPU-Z is showing clock speed of core #0.
Try to click right button of mouse anywhere within CPU-Z window.
    You'll see core# selection popup
