Well I experienced same beahviour wiht my Gskill PC8000PQ kit, I popped in the Mushkin redline kit and they didn't have that erratic behaviour...

I would try for both of you to mess a bit with the NB gtl ref voltage... setting will depend on board/ram etc... eg set at 0.630 and test then go to 0.650 etc
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

I reinstall Vistax64 and put the audio drivers, same problem with buggy sound. I than installed an Audigy SE, disabled the on-board sound and there was no improvements. Do you think that the MB is gone, or what the heck is going on ?

If you did all that and are still having issues. I would check your cables and see if they have been chewed through by a mouse or house pet.

[QUOTE=Leeghoofd;3631738]I put an Antec spotcool on it mate, very easy to work with as it can be screwed down on one of the mobo supports...it can be directed in a zillion of ways and is 3 speed adjustable

Thanks a million thats jut what I'll do. Also thank you for holding this thread together, it's a public service that you're doing here.
Edit: I can't use it because of the blue leds.

I'm building a P5Q Deluxe system now with the TRUE Black heatsink.. Noticed that if I orientate the heatsink such that the fan attached on the heatsink blows towards the rear exhaust, the edge of the heatsink comes in contact with the northbridge heatsink.

Wonder if I should jsut go ahead, or change the orientation such that the fan on the heatsink blows towards the top of the case? Or is there something wrong with my mounting?

Try the same settings but with an 7x multi, that will show if its a ram/FSB/NB issue or cpu clock issue.

If you use a lower cpu clock & lower FSB, and clock the ram to DDR2-1000 using an appropriate divider, is the ram stable?

I am having the strangest of issues with this board! I wonder if someone can help me with it?? Basically in all stress tests my PC is totally stable with the config in my sig. However, I am having issues whereby i get a total reboot during boot. Its like the hard drive just cuts off and then the machine reboots with no BSOD. No change of settings has been able to resolve this random but frequent reboot during boot issue (except when not overclocked)

Anyway, I have realised that by having another hard drive connected via the external eSata plate, then the issue goes away. The hard drive is just an internal Maxtor 6V080E0 80gb connected via the external plate and is lying on the floor.

Now im wondering if this is a hard drive issue, or whether it is an 'earthing' issue?? I have three Samsung F1 drives, maybe these could be the problem and I need to have a Maxtor hard drive plugged in as well for the system to boot OK? Or I was thinking that maybe by having the Maxtor on the floor outside my case, it is providing an 'earth' to the PC, and I have earthing problems inside my case? What do you guys think? Can anyone shed a bit of light on this?

Is anyone running this board with only Samsung F1 drives?

    Question Southbridge passive cooling

I have removed the heatpipe-assembly from my P5Q Deluxe, and installed waterblocks on the NB and MOSFETs. I think I don't need to watercool the southbridge, thus I decided to use a passive cooler there...
I tried to mount a Thermalright HR-05 IFX cooler on the SB, but it seems to be incompatible with this mainboard. Although Thermalright states it is compatible , a capacitor comes in contact with the right side of the heatpipe of this cooler.
What would be your suggestion for a passive cooler solution on the southbridge of a P5Q Deluxe? Did somebody try a Zalman NB-47J on this mobo?

Are they the terrabyte variant ?

You cannot set subtimings from another person mate, each ram kit, mobo is different...

Can you take a picture of that issue, I had the normal Ultra 120 and the eXtreme on my mobo without an issue... there was enough clearance

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Use Koda's flashing tool mate ( make a bootable USB stick or a CD ) it is better than downgrading with the older Asusupdate version

    Hi guys.

Here's a peculiar one for you. I've been running the specs below happily and stable for 6 months or so using the 1307 bios, but a couple of weeks ago my Seasonic PSU packed up, taking my motherboard with it. Since then, I've replaced the mobo with a new one - same model. This came preinstalled with a 14xx bios, which I decided to upgrade to the latest (1703).

Unfortunately, I'm having odd issues with my ram, despite using the same bios settings as before. If I start my machine up cold, I can run memtest for hours on end no problem, as well as ORTHOS (in CPU stress mode). However, if I were to use the machine for a while, play some games etc, the odd app would begin crashing on exit (such as Google Chrome, Left 4 Dead). Rebooting straight into memtest, I'll start to get errors. Now here's where it gets really odd: going into the bios, lowering the ram speeds/timings, upping voltages (such as NB, DRAM), reducing the CPU/motherboard overclock - nothing gets rid of these errors. Could it be heat that's causing the ram to produce errors? I tried taking the sticks out, testing one, then two, then three etc. Doing this produced no errors whatsoever, but then by the time I had all four back in, there were no errors either. Obviously the parts were much cooler at this stage.

Could my RAM be faulty? One other thing - I've attempted to flash my motherboard bios back to an earlier version (using the bios flash tool and the newer afudos), but have been unable to, despite using the necessary /n flags etc.

Here's the settings I'm using (successfully on the older P5Q-E w/1307):-

    AI Overclock tuner: Manual
    CPU Ratio Setting: 8X
    FSB Frequency: 400
FSB Strap to North Bridge: AUTO

DRAM RAS# Activate to Precharge: 12
    RAS# to RAS# Delay : AUTO

    Write Recovery Time: AUTO
    Read to Precharge Time: AUTO

    DRAM Static Read Control: Disabled

Get rid of them bananas mate, quite hard to read through your post : set TRFC to 50 or 55 and set NB voltage to 1.26 to test... but I suspect one of ya dimms is not as fit anymore as before and 1703 bios I never tested as 1406 was more than adequate for me, even 0803 was one of the better biosses for me... also there can be a variety in voltages between the boards so it might require some more or less on some settings...

For the Bios flashback see my above post with Koda's tool !

Using a HR05-IFX there is no other orientation possible, 'cause I have a very long GFX card (a Radeon 4870 X2) with a full cover waterblock on that, and a secondary VGA in the lowest PCI-Ex slot for a third monitor (running in 4x mode, but it doesn't matter).
Looking from above the top edge of the southbridge is side-by-side at the bottom edge of the VGA block...

Since the end of November I have two 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F1 HD103UJ drives in Raid0 on the ICH10R controller, had no problems with them so far...

Hi guys, just came here to say hello

I've got this P5Q Deluxe board and it's been rock solid so far.
    Got my C1 Q9550@3,6Ghz 1.250V (59C-64C) without problems.
I am prime-stable at 3,8GHz with 1.31V but the CPU runs too hot for my taste at that speed (71C-75C) so maybe my Zalman CNPS 9700Led needs an upgrade.
I would like to know from someone with the same CPU and cooler what clock/temp they were able to get from their chips.

    Good Luck & Have Fun

I am using my 320GB F1 to boot from. None of the hard drives are showing any corruption problems to be honest.

    Hello,

no need to check temps with others mate, that cooler is really not that performant for an Oc'ed quad... sadly Zalman still asks premium bucks for their coolers while they are not that mega...

also it's impossible to comapre coolers unless you use the exact same cpu or heatoutput... some cpu's just run hotter than others

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree
