    Evocade rev 2

i have copyed this here as its my lates project loads of images folow

well all i can say is i triped over in the workshop and look what happend

and thanks to baz for the 1/2" pipe finnaly finished the hx with modded txv (untested yet)

i just modded the base to fit the sanyo
cut the base and silversolderd on some bolt stub

it fits there nice and the oil sep fits between the to comps still

got rid of that huge accumilator only benifit was it looked good
but it took way to much gas to get it to work right so i came up with this

shot from above with the 2 comps and oil sep in place

    filter ! thats it lol

started to make the suction/retun line but felt i'll so came back in

    more done
1st stage is nearlly complete and its very very compact and tidy i think

    lagged

hi and low side service port right where i can get them but sh*t the desuper heater pipes go there oh well i think of some thing

finished off the 1st stage tonight and vac'd it down.

    some images

    moded txv ready for testing

sight glass soon went from yellow to green under vac and heat

the txv bulb charge was @ 7bar but found it would not work well put it down to 2 bar and saw lower temps

well as for mine load testing and charging of the 1st stage and txv bulb is complete (well im happy with it so far) temps may inprove with better lagging

    heat loader straped to hx

hx temps under 200w load un lagged

striped the rest of the case away theres a 2 way valve in there i want to use to

    new comp in place

and made a new adapter for the oil return on the 2nd stage so i can fit a gage coupller to it

    2nd stage is under way
    anti vibration coil YEAH!!
hrrrmm the flash was really bright in this image lol
    *snip* http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k2...2/Image051.jpg

    edit add image
    oil return and cooler

    anywho

barron came over today for some working's so i started up the 1st to show him

then went on to complete the 2nd stage as much as i can do really till i get the new evap

the coil for the expantion tank was a bit wobbly as it had been used before so would not bend right

ahh just a couple of things i can do need to drill a hole in the hiside pipe to get a take off for pressure cut off and hiside mano
i might as well install the sution line and hotgas bypass and cap tube

Are you absolutely sure that that HX is leak free?

I don't like the fact that there have been a flame directly on the plates. That could have ruined the braze between the plates.

I think that also happens in lengthy suction lines? I remember a tech mentioning something about waves of oil bashing the compressors? Not positive but definitely not a fun sounding experience.

Not a bad way to go about doing things. I've considered the same route but I opted for brazing up my own lines instead. That however is much cleaner with the braided steel, I was never able to do it cleanly. Looking forward to seeing this up and running

    thanks quintus

also that link describes it as when a valve is shut down the line creating a pressure build up on the joint causing the fitting/joints to break

    to my defence
this will not be applicable to this joint.
the system has already been pressure tested to over 25bar if there was a problem with the joint it would of burst during this test and the system has been run for about 4hours real time now with no sign of immediate problems also there is no shut off valve in the 1st stage apart from the txv that has mop and is never shut fully (and 55% silver solder on all the joints)

lol it may get change'd just for you tho quintus ive got to recover the 1st stage to do the modifcation to the condencer, there is a thread that no has replyed to lol so i,m gona make the changes anyway

well i was trying to get a company to make one but the costs were outragious
    a 4ft long 3/8" line with 1/2" 50mm tails was £109

this is an lpg huckup of a traler/caravan
4ft long 1/2" line with some 1/2" bsp fittings all tig welded and ready to run £29 not includeding the shipping

not long now going to do some work on it to night i plan to move the hx and mod the condencer and fit shut of valves to the captube sution line so it will be easy to change the captube lenth simmler to what baz did on cascade6
i hope i did not patent it lol

    hrrrm
2 hx's 2 txv's wonder how they would come in usefull

You live in the UK correct? There are a few cascade builders out there, I'm sure one wouldn't mind parting with a little R14 in exchange for cash.

change of plan's due to not having any gas to put in a 3rd stage and found a big problem with the 4way valve that will cause issues as its only rated @-20 and the way it was piped in it would see some near -80c temps so have removed it (will have to send dave his pid back gutted!) but the changes are all good

so its a 2 stager again lol (for now)

right first problem solved as i only have one cap tube going to the evap now i had to move the hot gas further back in to the system.
As you can see there's a strainer from the oil sep to the hx filtering any crap and a bit of a make shift inline acc - then the hot gas goes in before the filter but after the hx, this will be slower to respond but will do the same job as it has to clear the cap tube of liqued and so on.....

"he hee! you didn't think bubbles was a munky did yoall"
    bubbles,, sight glass's are cool......

and the biggest update on evocade to date its got a name tag........... lol
    I LOVE LAMP!
