    Question Mach2 & P4 without heatspreader?

I have chance to test borrowed P4 Mobile Celeron under my Mach2 unit, and I noticed major problem: P4 M Celerons dont come with heatspreader, and without it evaporator cant get contact to core . So is there any mods for mounting bracket, to make contact between evaporator and core?

    Thanks

Hi there. Yes there is a very simple mod to the bracket to make contact tot he core; you simply cut off the 4 screw hole protrusions from the bottom of the bracket (one in each corner). I did this to allow the freezer to make contact with the core when I removed the Intel heatspreader on my P4 3.2.

WARNING: Be careful not to crush the core. I highly recommend that you use some type of neoprene rubber or some other type of non-conductive material as a shim.

    Take care.

I'm running mine without the heatspreader, and you absolutely must use a shim to get the best contact. It helps if the shim is just shy of the die thickness too, and becarefull it doesn't sit up on the epoxy around the edges of the die.
