    ATi HD4995 X2?

The Refresh GPU of the successful RV770, RV790, which is to come possibly into 40nm, is entered also as MultiGPU the market. We got information from first hand, which data of these new diagram maps reveal.

According to current rumors the RV790 is to be introduced and presented already starting from March, possibly on the Cebit. According to current speculations it is to be already manufactured in a 40nm structural width.

From AMD internal sources we could experience that it will give a ATi Radeon HD4970 as single GPU variant. A HD4950 would be likewise, conceivable with a RV790Pro. The interesting information is however the name of the new dual GPU diagram map. This is to receive the name ATi Radeon HD4995 X2 according to confidential statements; leaned against the only recently published Multi GPU diagram map Nvidia GeForce GTX295, which got the performance crown again in the house of the manufacturer.

AMD already leaned the name pattern of the AMD Phenom II 920 & 940 to those Intel core i7. So one wants to still try to manufacture a certain “achievement similarity” the GeForce GTX295 and Radeon HD4995 X2.

When the new Refresh Grafikkarten on the market will not come is well-known yet. We hold it further up to date.............................

    CGAX-58758X2?

Salland always has new cards listed early, but I think this time they are just guessing the name.

RV790 Makes Radeon HD 4900 Series, Led by HD 4995 X2?
After RV740, the next AMD venture on the 40nm silicon process will be the company's next flagship GPU: the RV790. With this core AMD hopes to reclaim the performance and value crowns, more importantly, energy efficiency the newer fab process hopes to bring to the current-generation GPU.

Quite obviously, AMD will assign new SKUs to the products based on the RV790. The safest guess would be the formation of a new sub-series under Radeon 4000, the Radeon HD 4900 series. German website ATi Forum has learned that indeed AMD planning on a new sub-series based on the new GPU, following scoops on RV740 making the Radeon HD 4700 series. Once again, AMD might create two products based on a single GPU and one flagship dual-GPU accelerator, to begin with. The company's lackluster optimism in the R700 Pro (Radeon HD 4850 X2), has shown on the upcoming series with no mention of a second-inline dual GPU accelerator. In ATi Forum's theory, the RV790XT gets HD 4970, RV790Pro gets HD 4950 and the dual-GPU flagship SKU could be named Radeon HD 4995 X2. Talk about competitive naming....

HD 4970 X2 would indeed make the most sense. I hope this card is real and it isn't called an HD 4995 X2.. that sounds like a budget retailer's pricing scheme($49.95).

    Why isn't it 666 euros?

The universe will go on, indifferent to our brief existence, but while we are here we touch not just part of that vastness, but also the lives around us. Life is the gift each of us has been given. ^ Oh my if that's close to the real price then this card has to be very fast, ATI/AMD doesn't price cards 600€+ for nothing.

I like the return of ATI to the very highend section, not like I'd ever buy a card like that but it's nice with 4870X2 doing so well and probably the upcoming cards too.

Wonder if HD4970 (single GPU) will beat GTX 285, my guess is it will and that would suck for NVIDIA, I'm guessing maybe ~10% performance advantage and ~$399 USD MSRP but that remains to be seen.

RV790 is coming out first here.
First thought to be a 55nm revision, then 40nm tweak and now it is back to a 55nm revision.

Still have a month until we hear anything concrete.

Are we even sure that there is an RV790?

When I was talking to the XFX rep, he hinted that the next highend card will more than likely be when the HD5xxx series comes out.

    +1000000.

ATI should first fix their fuc*ked up drivers, and then go on making better hardware.

    LMAO. Their drivers are fine.

The original drivers for my 4850 kept the fan very low and I burnt myself pulling the card out. I thought something was wrong as I've never had a GPU run that hot stock before. Then I fired up COD4 only to see it was a stuttering mess. For whatever reason enabling dual card in the options menu fixed that, but there was still some overall sloppy AA and AS work compared to my 8800 GTS 512.

GRID's AA at a distance didn't seem to be working very well and Farcry 2 stuttered as well. Even on the 8.12's I noticed texture break up and line crawling to a greater extent than the GTX 285 that's replaced the ATI part. GRID looks better, COD4 no longer looks sloppy (ie. textures on ceilings, lights), and Farcry 2 no longer stutters.

Along w/ a superior driver panel that's easier to change options in a flash or use profiles, a better stock cooler, and more speed to boot, I'm much happier to be back on an Nvidia part.

Although I have noticed some odd lighting issues in Left 4 Dead and it stutters unless multi core's disabled w/ the latest drivers. So it's not a perfect green pasture.

AMD/ATi's AA is better than Nvidia's...
    What is AS?

Yes, 4850 at launch had a fan problem, there are many fixes for it though.

I don't know why people constantly complain about ATi drivers. All drivers have problems.
