Phenom 2 Overclock results ambiant air/cold air 4.2ghz+

Well after a week of testing heres a rundown of the voltages for the clocks....all clocks are bench/game stable and prolly need a bumb up of .03-.07 to be prime stable ....Ill be testing for prime stable clocks later on but heres how it worked with this setup
OS Vista 32 and system specs are in my sig.

Here are idle and load temps from 3 voltage settings 1.35-1.55v

    1.35v idle 30c load 43c
    1.45v idle 32c load 50c
    1.55v idle 35c load 58c

    stock clock 3ghz to 3.5ghz 1.35v

3.6ghz 1.4v (need to test for lower maybe 1.375v-1.38)
    3.7ghz 1.45v idle temp is 36c
    3.8ghz 1.5125v
    3.9ghz 1.55v
4ghz 1.575v just for screenie and validation. At this point Im almost at my aircooled max level. Im on air and ambiant is 24c.....Ill post load temps as I get them.

    4.1ghz 1.6125v cold air cooled ambiant 11c
    4.26ghz 1.66v...cold air

so right now my full overclock for the entire system benchable on ambiant air sits like this.

    cpu 3.9ghz
    bus speed 200mhz
    nb 2.8ghz (5600 MT/s)
    ht 2.6ghz
    memory 1066mhz

    4850x2 running at 700/1150

    heres my 24/7 setting

2 hours prime 1.55v load results

These are awesome results, thanks for the details. I am planning to pick up one of these chips very soon and I was just wondering cooler/setup you achieved these results with? I see you mentioned air but that's all I noticed...sorry if you specified and this is a pointless question.

You got me beat by about 30 mhz cold air, It's cold in my room now according to core temp @ 3.6g my q6600 is 15C, gonna make a run in a few if my OCZ vindicator can handle the load. Ktype probe says 3C and my fingers are getting numb typing

You have about the same Voltage to cpu clock ratio as my chip, but a little higher max clock, probably thanks to your higher max Volts that you allow. I like your results, except one:
Don't you think 1,55V for 24/7 use is a little bit high?

thank you,........well with my cooling results the cpu is doing fine especially since its prime stable....if it was too much for the cpu to handle it would not be able to handle prime. Im getting the same results temp wise as people with stock voltages on the stock HS.

I dont think its to much for the cpu for the cooling but I do think its a waste of electricity.....while Im just surfing the net.

this was last night....so ambiant was different from results in the first post

look at the difference right here between

3.8ghz 1.55v prime stable 100% load 59c.......loud ass annoying fan
    3.7ghz 1.5v prime stable 100% load 52c.......2 silent fans

Im feeling 3.7ghz much more as I see 2 positives in 52c load and silent fans but only losing 100mhz.

But Im taking it a step further.

I have a personal problem knowing my cpu can do 3.8ghz but only using 3.7ghz. I dont know, its something mental, like something is being taken away or unfullfilled because of that 100mhz loss in oc.

so ive decided to test Cool n Quiet and its fantastic

Ive set the bus speed to 254mhz and the voltage to 1.55v

CNQ uses the multiplier and voltage to drop your cpu speed when the cpu is not needed at full speed.

cool n quiet uses lower multipliers 4 and up to the stock multi of 15 combined with my fsb of 254mhz I am in windows surfing at

    254x4 1016mhz at 0.992v
    254x15 3810mhz at 1.55v

but when needed my system goes right to 3.8ghz for full time duty. Im still prime stable and Im using my full cpu overclock........but when its needed.

I think this is great I was begining to worry about my electric bill with such a high voltage for the cpu but with this its a whole different story

this probably should be a new thread because the info is very useful for people wanting a high overclock but a bit worried about voltage and power use.

hope people see this and use the info.

    Very good point.

Very fortunate my wife went out to the movies.

Very fortunate that I had built my desk and its shelf at exactly the height of my window opening.

Very fortunate that I didn't have to move my desk to attach "The Plank" - obviously this was meant to be.

I love it!......whats funny is my desk is also near the window.....I was anticapting winter in June when I put it here

dude that is almost the same thing I did except I put the mobo on my "plank" (quad layered cardboard boxes) and shoved it out the window halfway then shut the window as low as I could.

your hd's might not like the cold......thats the same reason I had problem mid december when I tried to put my whole case out the window system would not boot up........this time I insulated the hd and left it inside

All motherboards need an option to nix fan control. My DFI mobo doesn't. I know you can go off the 4 pin molex but you shouldn't have to.

Now that I have proof of concept I will mount a board on my sled and try it out another night.

Fortunately I am talking to DFI on Friday.

    More about the sled soon.

How is that Qmicra working out for you?

Dave is a really good guy, and I loved my Qmicra v1 when I had it.

Nice things going around I see

I just looked at the weather forecast for this weekend and it looks sweet for midnight session -3C to 0C on Sunday. Can't get any colder in Torquay/UK so I'm happy.
