Like Vapor was saying, it would nice to get direct comparison with same CPU and only
a different Cooler and same measured ambient, then you can reliably take the difference
from the two different coolers regardless of whether your sensors are good or bad.

Anyway, it's a huge cooler. I don't know if these will take off as to popular.

I'm more interested in the V12, it looks to have a rather more practical application.

I agree. but im not allowed to publish a head to head comparison as a beta tester. Im supposed to leave that to the "experienced reviewers" *roll eyes*

Yeah, but the "how much" (at a range of heatloads) is the curious part

And JTFC that thing's expensive....I guess I won't be buying one to review after all

I already started running it without the TEC. its been a while but i know that i have to keep it on for a while in order for the temps to finally get settled. I'll post up a screen shot of my realtemp readings once its done.

    I just found this info:

"Here is a little something to know about the V10

Don’t test with anything under Q6600. The reason is with the TEC... the chip isn’t hot enough to trigger it... so it will only give a 2-5 degree difference then another air cooler.

For example if you test with a E8400, the difference between a competitor cooler will be very little.
If you test with a QX9770 or Core I7 945 you will get a huge difference because the V10 has more heat to dissipate and the TEC will turn on.

It’s like a turbo car, you can drive a minivan and a STI all day at 50mph, but when you get to the highway or dragstrip the STI is faster because the “turbo” will turn on.

The TEC will not turn on unless the full heat potential is there. With a Phenom X4, or Core QX, or Core i7, you will have a more dramatic and proper effect since they are high heat. Higher the heat total... the more lead V10 will pull away from everything else and the hybrid mode will only work well with a cpu over Q6600 because the chip has to be very hot.

Remember the V10 can cool up to 300W but it will cool best only with Q6600 and above."

New Results with TEC off... they're definitely interesting...

MY CPU is fluctuating between 41 and 43C... on Prime Load.

The weird thing is that i was able to get the TEC to work before... its weird. I dont know what changed.

Strike that the TEC doesnt appear to be making any difference at all. I think i know what happened. I think my ambients are slightly lower now than they were before and that could possibly not be triggering the TEC. I really dont know what to think at this point.

Yeah, damn...no difference at all really. 57/57/50/50 vs. 58/58/50/50

Guess you're not turning the TEC on afterall? What if you crank up your CPU volts (just for the sake of creating heat)?

The more I look, the more interested I am in how this thing does. But I just can't be buggered to spend $140 on something I'll use once or twice that may or may not be a superior performer

I've never had to crank up the volts much on this CPU whats the highest safe voltage i can hit(temperatures willing of course).

this cpu cooler looks like it might be very good. wish I could try one. got a true atm which does a great job at cooling my quad.

this one has a tec though

Judging by the fact that im getting a 42C on air with no TEC i cant even begin to fathom what kind of temps i need to get the TEC to trigger.

I thought i had it before...

Try 1.50v-1.55v if only for a short time. With them temps you're getting there won't be any issues. I'd expect the tec to be used then.

I take it the tec is sensor controlled with no over-ride?

Pretty much. I was thinking about making a switch or something.

I'll try the updated voltages tomorrow(today) when i get back from class.

Sweet! Santa Ana has started which means even higher ambient temps! Its going to be a bit tough doing an exact comparison so ill have to test air again and then try with TEC.

Well the $150 price tag kind of kills the value on this. You could watercool the cpu for around that price and get better temps:

Looks cool though and not everyone likes the idea of watercooling, so this might be the better alternative.

Its 140, and it cools your ram VERY well.

So much so that my ram was very warm before getting this cooler and now its ice cold even when the ram is running fully loaded.

Did some more testing today and i have confirmed that i was able to trigger the TEC to 50%. What appears to be happening is that the TEC cools to a certain point and then once it sits there for a bit the sensor cools down and shuts the TEC off so that explains my fluctuation in temperatures. I am once again sitting at 44C even though ive been running prime for over an hour. My temperature delta appears to be 8C. So my CPU gets up to 51C and then it appears that the TEC kicks back on and brings it down to 44C.

The size is insane, I don't think I'd want that hanging on my motherboard. Plus if I was going to spend that much I would go with water since I think it would be more fun to build a loop.
