F2 will be fine for 4 gig of ram.

    well, i removed a 2gig stick and i'm running 19.5 x 200.9 @ 1.536v in cpu-z and 1.550 in the BIOS
    RAM @ 1066 5-5-5-18-24-T2, 2.05v
    everything else stock
    BIOS F3

last time i booted @ 3.9ghz it lasted about 10 minutes and then just BSOD on me.
i'll surf around for a bit i guess.

    update:
    no go for me.
waited over 10 minutes, ran prime, froze the system (new...usually it crashes the whole system)
    reboot, page fault
    reboot, increase .025, page fault
not even going to bother trying other multi's cause i get it with multiple configs from 15-18x as well.
    F2 here i come i guess.

For those of you with a Phenom II and 4 gigs of ram I suggest you try this bios from gigabyte's site.

Does it work well for other things too, or just better more 4GB ram?

    well, i'm running @ 3.9ghz...again, with 1 stick removed.
    16 x 244 @ 1.550v in the BIOS, cpu-z reports 1.536 (jumps to 1.552 every now and then).
HWMonitor showing 36C across all 4 cores as i type this. will jump down to 35 for a second or 2.
2200 on the HT and NB (auto)
CPU NB VID @ +.75 (which one of these two should i be adjusting more?)
NB Voltage @ 1.350(same as above)
    RAM @ 488mhz 5-5-5-18, 2.05v

network says i've been up over 11 min now...guess i'll take the plunge and run prime to see if it crashes/freezes and then reboot for my wonderful page fault error.

    edit:
    forgot...F3 BIOS

    edit 2:
    well, 0x00000124 showed up.
but i was able to boot again without a page fault error!
    whooooot!

I shaved 1/2th second off PI 1m times HT is no longer locked..... I wouldn't reccomend it for anything but PH II. SO far stability wise what i notice is I don't crash in prime anymore although I am erroring out at speeds that were stable, I'm working on it now, If i'm right this bios requires you to take .25 off vcore and add .25 to NB vid for your prime stable settings.....Its testing now. I confirmed it was NB holding me back as I dropped multi one notch and passed 5 hours......

Seem the orginal concensus deemed this bios as killing overclocking, must have used a Ph 1.......

Should have a direct comparison ready in a few more minutes.........PI 32m is 1min 16s faster same clocks.

F3o bios from gigabytes site ( only complaint is ganged no longer an option ) I'm testing even lower vcore than this at same clocks , results later.

A few things to note about the F3o bios.

Do not try to boot above 16x cpu multiplier Use aod , k10 stat etc etc
Do not try to boot with over 1.6v on air..use eztune in windows for 1.6v+
Try using less vcore and more CPU NB vid.

All i can think of, I will leave you with this for now.....Less vcore than was required with F2

I loaded F3... POST is faster, boot somewhat faster, OC on my hero 9850 is MUCH less, regardless of what I do. It also random crashes at any OC.

I was able to get it to run at 3ghz (15x) and 1.4v, but that was it, and it wasn't stable. ACC did nothing as usual. This particular CPU will do 3.6 in my Asus M3A79-T

I actually put this devil board in my gamer case, cuz the M3A79-T blew up and is out on RMA. Good news is that it just installed with no problems and the RAID 5 array and all drivers (the ethernet mac is different) went it with no problems too.

Bad news is that it crashes all the time unless it runs at stock multi. Any OC and it pukes.

    Still the devil board.

Gigabyte is such a terrific company, I have no idea how this got so screwed up

All F3 bios variant's are tuned for PH II, try F2 and I would try playing with ACC if I were you Just make sure to disable ACC when you power down for the night................Or you can sell it to me cheap, I could use a spare in case I toast the IGP chasing the 3d06 WR hd3300.

Still can't get it over 232mhz htt with 2x2gb ram. Damnit! I have flashed bios F2 (which didn't recognized the cpu at all and would't boot), F3o (no >232mhz), F3(no >232mhz). First with crappy 3gb value ram it could do 262mhz benchable...

When I was searching for my maximums, I could hit 284MHz with every other multiplier on minimum. This was of course with 9950 BE.

Hmm the wall is gone with different ram. Plugged this 4x1gb TEAM Elite in and it works way better!

    Look: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=496963

Done with 1.55v. Now i only need to find out to get it bench stable.

So is the general consensus to stick with F2 if you have a P1 and want to overclock? What about RAM compatibility, I have 4x2GB sticks of RAM and would like to try to get it stable at 1066 even though I know it's unsupported. Much like the "dropping down to 333 from 400 when all slots are filled" requirement on the Athlon64, I'm sure many have gotten around this with perfect tweaking.

Now I have F3. But F2 felt more stable... Maybe I'll try F2 again. I've been switching between bioses quite a lot. I just wont find the best... because there is still issues.

What I would want to see:

Possibility to use EPP profiles at any given RAM multiplier
Possibility to set CPU multipliers for each core
    Faster POSTing
Get rid of Cold boot issues

    Thats about it.

    Using F3 Bios

4 sticks D9 GMH 1gb on kingston valuerams can't boot. But 4 sticks of kingston relabelled PCS 2gb stick can boot.

Can't hit 300htt for my BE2300 though. 290 is rock stable at low volts. don't know why

Just wondering, can F2 bios boot Ph II 940?

Edit: Looks like chew* got it working.

But there is 1 good thing, you can flash the board with a PII in it when you are running F2. It just won't boot further here lol
