I'm a bit disappointed in my G.Skill HK kit, it doesn't seem to clock past 600MHz too well.
I'm a bit disappointed in my G.Skill HK kit, it doesn't seem to clock past 600MHz too well.
i used to own 4 kits of the G.Skill 8500 HK, they all overclocks quite good, but not the very best overclocking ram or something like that.
1 lost long time ago, still have 1 kit with me and i still use it from time to time, another 2 kits are still working fine in my kid computer running CAS4-4-4 DDR1000 at 2.2v for sometime now.
this's the kit that i still having, it used to run to around 1350mhz (not fully stable, and with a high volts like 2.5v if i recall right) on that P35 board i can't locate any more pictures. the rest of my kits were able to run about same clock speed.

Hmm, either my kit is weak or I'm not doing something right.

@Shiranui Gen-An,
if you can't ever see it able to run high i think it must be the ram itself that won't overclock high.
i used to see this 8500 HK runs over 1300 on the internet before many times, and some were from one of these forum, i think.
Well it will clock that high, I just can't get it Memtest stable.
update!

Been playing with a set of old Ballistixs. Still don't know if they are GMH or GKX. How does this look?

Running on an e5200 with a low FSB wall. Highest I've been able to get the is 1234Mhz. Thinking about picking up a used e2180 just to see how far this set will go.
Nice work PizzaMan.
I got my D9GMH Cellshocks yesterday and, as I expected, I've had to loosen my timings considerably with 4x1GB. I am currently running 900MHz 4-4-4-12 2.1v which makes me wonder...why on earth am I using D9?![]()

Those results are with the pair I killed, baked in oven, then frooze. They have been handling voltage really well now. Tried for a 600 cas4 to no avail. Did hit 587.5Mhz with 4-5-5-18 @ 2.42v

Here is another cas 3 run @ 2.5v

Goal was 450Mhz. Fell a little short.
This is my 24/7 setup on 790i striker with crucial balistic 2000 mgz kit, im really liking this board, and memory, the ics are micron gts, or gtr one of those 2.
mike looks like you found your ideal ddr3 board.thos are some very nice everest scores.keep us updated.again great job.what memory is that?do you notice a big difference from the ep45t-UD3P?

Im using crucial ballistic 2000 mgz kit. Yeah the nvidia 790i really pumps out bandwidth and latency, it will do about 575fsb if you really push hard, not easy to get there, but im totally stable where i am, and happy.
This board definitly out peforms the ep45t ud3p, that board has 0000000 bios support, and not so great peformance. So im pretty happy with this board till i go i7. This board is very hard to learn to overclock, took me some time to get it stable.
well it seems you got it got the hang of it fairly fast.last time i heard you were still debating on what board to get next.and now your achieving some really nice clocks.great work.

i'll be tearing the rig apart tommorrow morning slapping in the quad, swapping out the psu and then firing it up.how much for your board if you dont mind me asking?

Well it was $400 when i came out 9 months ago, newegg is selling it for $329, i paid $220, and it had never been opened. Im considering getting the same quad you have, i guess this board i have will run 500+ fsb with a quad. Here you go Raja brand new same board for sale here on xs very good price http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...t=asus+striker

Ok, I pulled the heatspreaders back far enough to read the ICs. One stick from one pair 2HP in the corning and -18F right under were it says 'BALLISTIX'. The one stick I check had -17F. Can anyone tell me which Micron IC I have?
mike this really sucks, that is an unbelievable offer(160)for a new board that originaly cost 329,but i just bought this quad and a new guitar and im short by 30$ at the moment.to bad warhammer didnt post this one day earlier or else it would have been mine.very curious to try Nvidea chipset and i would definitly take your word on it that its a great board.but i guess it not in the cards for me.

Hey guess it aint meant to be, i wouldnt say its GREAT board, but its pretty solid, like most boards it has its few issues but nothing major. Its definitly a fun board and new overclocking experience. Just get that quad cranked up on your ud3p, you will be able to find the 790i on ebay or other places for a good deal if you have the money sometime.
