perhaps they have 1mb L2 cache and 2mb L3 cache ?
they have a total cache 6mb.
even if it is 4mb L3 cache could only help to not be as hot. nb speed can overcome being smaller.

To me it looks perfectly clear:
900 series - X4 /w total 8MB cache (2 MB L2 + 6 MB L3)
800 series - X4 /w total 6MB cache (2 MB L2 + 4 MB L3)
700 series - X3 /w total 7.5 MB cache (1.5 MB L2 + 6 MB L3)
Lets clear out once for all this urban myth about dissipation and amount of cache: if leakage of transistors that constitute processors with less cache is greater than leakage of processors with more cache, dissipation will be basically same, or even greater for processors with less cache but with bigger leakage... of course this is simplest possible explanation but that's how it is... regardless P II X4 810 is really nice O'Cer![]()

That Phenom 9-series has 8MB cache meens, 512kb L2 per core = 2MB cache + 6MB shared L3 Cache = 8MB
Phenom 8-series has 6MB total cache, 512kb L2 per core = 2MB Cache + 4MB shared L3 Cache = 6MB
