Andy, you must have drawn the short straw, you just can't win on this rad.
I went down and checked the fan spacing on both sides of the rad, they are consistent. What I did notice was the gap from the edge of the fan to the tank was greater on the end tank than the inlet/outlet tank. The difference is about 1mm-1.5mm between the gap on the bottom versus the top.
This is really sad . Thanks for the heads up on the fan mount , mcoffey . I would not have thought to check the fan mountings for trueness .
I have a rx120 and a rx240 and had planned to get rid of my feser 360 and replace it with the rx360 . I've been water cooling for 6 years and have been wanting
a rad with this open fin design ,fitting size and price point forever . These rad's look to be a perfect replacement for the TC's with their fitting and shroud issues .
Plus the TC's and shrouds are getting to be a drag to find .
The rx120 fan mount is .25mm out of square and .25mm to wide on both sides of the rad . With a little extra effort you can mount a fan . No big deal .
The rx240 on the other hand is off the wall . The fan mount is square enough . Butt the width is 1.4mm to wide......1.4mm . Without slotting out the fan and case mount holes
at least 1.4mm there is no way to mount this rad...............truely sad .
Both of these rad's have the marred paint prob's too . Although not as bad as mcoffey's . The paint also smells like a hazardous waste site as well .
The second biggest drag is that this reflects terribly on XSPC . I know that XSPC designed the rads and had them built elsewhere . But someone should have made sure the paint was
dry and that the fans would fit . I've had such good luck and service from all the res tops and regular tops I've used, this is just a shame . Damn its such a drag to have what should be
a great new product in your hands only to find whomever assymbled it screwed the pooch.........damn .
Hopefully Jab-Tech can help me get this sorted out . Which is the third big drag . I hate it that Jab-Tech has to deal with this . In todays bad economy its such a bummer to have something
like this screw with your already to small bottom line .
Thanks skinnee for your testing efforts .Very nice work !

The true tragedy is that John even has to deal with this . Yeah I wish I could use mine as is . But there is no way short of welding up the holes and redrilling and tapping them . I thought of taking the damn thing to a radiator shop and having them remount the side pannels . But the fins are already tight up against the side pannels and they would have to crush the rad 1.4mm to refit them . Anyway thanks for your post on the issue I in my wildest dream would not have expected to get a radiator that you could not bolt a fan to .Couldn't agree more and John couldn't have been better about mine. I'll make do with mine because I'll use it on my MC bench.
But XSPC is a tragedy for sure. Between the fillport being hosed up on the res pump top combo, and this POS excuse for a rad, last dime they'll ever get out of me for sure. It seems like each and everytime they release a new product someone get burned. Bad threads on a res, leaky O rings on FC blocks, poor rads, the list goes on and one and on.

Ouch mcoffey! That sucks bigtime! I was looking at buy one of the RX360's but held off and bought from the devil I knew (tfc), now I'm glad I did but it's too bad we don't have a new strong competitor for radiators like I thought/hoped we did. I was planning on using an xspc on my next guinea pig aka free build for someone else :P
I spoke with Paul from XSPC and told him I would post here...
He is well aware of the QC problems that mcoffey and jetroho have had to deal with on their radiators. They are still trying to track down exactly what went wrong with the batch that came to the US, the batch that went to Europe has been inspected for similar problems and does not have any, especially those mentioned here. He understands this setback on launch does not sit well with those of you who have purchased one out of the first batch, he does send his apologies and wants to be sure you get the product you purchased and not one that does not meet your satisfaction.
Keep in mind I am only conveying a message, I do not represent XSPC.
lol. i doubt that there are QC problems at TC or TFC.
Thats why these rads are cheap. QC bad. That makes the price difference.
Endcustomer sometimes dont care about the QC, but every Dealer has to consider this. The Returning Goods can break the dealer's neck and reliability.
OK, i just got my RX120.
Cant say anything different than the other 1st hand experiences... Tissue paper messed up the STINKY, STICKY paint.
Ok... Im fine with that, as long as the thing performs.... NO! The screw holes are inconsistant sizes! The screws I am trying to use are working with 3/4 holes on 1 side and 1/2 holes on the other. Looks like im going to have to retap+get new screws or get a new unit. Great

Hold up there bud, lets not forget some of the common problems with EK blocks and other vendors. Just cause the first units had some duds doesn't mean the company is bad. I had 2 gigabyte x58 extreme mobos die on me, and a single evga one doa. Doesn't mean they are bad companies, just new product with new things to sort out. XSPC tops are very common in a lot of builds and and XSPC res tops too. Their new VGA blocks are amazing. As for the RX rad series, they had some problems the first few sets.
Look at their other rads, the chrome ones perform very nicely, the RS series is better then the swiftech qp series rads.
As for EK their mounting on 280gtx caused some cards to get damaged, but they fixed that. I am sure XSPC will pull it together and fix their rads too.

Having owned multiple XSPC blocks, rads, reservoirs and pump tops I can speak from experience and say XSPC make some damn fine products.
As Pika said, it's far from uncommon for the first batch of a new product to have problems. Remember the fan spacing issues on TFC's first batch of X-Changers?
oooh, exciting.
And is there anybody who has tested the Triple RX already against TFC or TC??? Although there are big issues regarding painting and fanīs fixing??? Skinnee?
Lol, one bad batch with a new product and you prefer them out of business? That's a bit harsh isn't it mcoffey?![]()

Also, I am not making excuses for XSPC, just saying that the first batch of a lot of things turns out bad. Xbox 360 RoD, EK mounting issues, PS2 Slim heat problems, Seagate 1tb drives, etc. I have used their tops, blocks, and res with no problem. As for paint, a new rad should come painted no problem, but it happens. I am sure they will help replace the rad with a new one. Not to mention the paint just chips off and for saving 40-80 bucks, I can get it painted with multiple colors. As for screw threads, that is not acceptable, but again first batch has problems like the TFC rads did.

Looks like I will just stick with my trusty BIX's until some innovation comes out. Not going to pay for a rad that does not do better and has lousy QC on top of that!
