LINK to available BIOS versions from Gigabyte

    - F1 First release

    - F2a Updated CPU ID for Phenom 9950 125W
-Also slight naming changes in BIOS (Memory Controller Freq. -> Northbridge Frequency)

    - F2
-HT Link can only be be decreased from bios, not increased. AOD can be used to increase it.

    - F3h Updated CPU ID for Athlon X2 7750
-HT Link speed setting now works also updwards, earlier versions could only drop HT Link.
    -C1E support option disappeared
-DCTs Mode disappeared (no option for ganged/unganged, defaults as unganged with 2x sticks)
-New type of BIOS settings saving option with baby blue background, supports saving to / loading from HDD, FDD, USB
-Maximum CPU multiplier raised to x35
-Maximum NB multiplier raised to x20

    - F3i
-Nothing special changes (I did only a fast test)

^ All these have cold boot issue with ACC enabled.
    -----------

    - F3m Mentioned here
-Unreleased version that should have better compatibility with Phenom II's

    - F3o "Update CPU ID (for AMD NPRP)"
    -C1E support option back
-No cold boot issue with ACC enabled (I tried only once)
    -SLOW posting when ACC enabled
-MUCH harder to get any overclocking stable
-This is the worst version (for Phenom I), but still it has some promising fixes. Not recommended for any overclocking.

    - F3 "Update CPU ID (AGESA 3.3.20)"
    -C1E support option disappeared again
-Cold boot issue with ACC enabled still there* but now it can be passed with simply pressing reset. After that POSTing is a flash compared to earlier versions.
    (01/13/2009).
    -Officially supports Deneb

*EDIT: I have had problems with booting and now it seems that after shutting down from XP, and powering up after, the reset button will do the workaround but when shutting down from Win7, I have to cut the power before getting it up again.

    - F4a
    -"Improve Phenom II CPU compatibility"
    -"Improve Audio compatibility"
-No cold boot issue when ACC enabled
    -Ganged/Unganged option back
-PCIe speed setting in AOD is acting weird. I suggest you to manually set PCIe speed from BIOS.
-Doesn't affect OC'ing, in fact, it can get you a better results.
    -Highly recommended for benching

    - F4
-"Update CPU ID (Support AGESA3.3.2.3 code / AM3 CPU)"

    - F4V
-"Update CPU ID (for AMD NPRP)"
Might just add support for new CPU's.

    - F5
-"Update ACC code and CPU ID (Support AGESA 3.3.2.4 code for Phenom X3 CPU)"
-Added EC Firmware (Normal / Hybrid) to ACC menu for core unlocking (Hybrid mode)
-Now resuming from S3 works ok
    -Newest release

I am using this now, and will not look into older releases.
    The best version yet.

If you need some of these, I could send them via email or msn. The versions that I don't have, are F2a and F3m

My experiences show that ACC doesn't work right in F3 bioses, so IF you need ACC to overclock your Phenom I, I suggest using F2, F4 or F5 BIOS

    Updated 06-22-2009

I haven't noted ALL changes of the different versions (haven't tried F3m, F3t and F4V , so feel free to make comments and additions.

*Note that these changes and functionalities have been tested with Phenom X4 9950 BE. Experience can be different with other CPU's*

(Offtopic: AOD 2.1.5 will most assumably NOT work with this board, so get version 2.1.4 instead. I have tried both 2.1.5 versions (0218 and 238) and they will not even recognize AMD CPU. The newest 2.1.6 seems to work ok)

Update about AOD version 3 and newer: At least my rig locks immediately when AMD Boost is activated. Does not happen with older AOD versions.

I'm so glad I stopped using this trainwreck board. I have no idea why Gigabyte bombed so bad with this particular board, when nearly all their other products are just SO good. Total bummer.

The slow booting is just astonishing to me, as all it has to do is POST, and handoff to the bootloader.... not that complicated. We've been doing that for more than a 1/4 century with PCs.

Its amazing to me how fast both the Asus M3A78-T and the Jetway HA07 Ultra get into Vista compared to the Gigabyte. Absolutely ZERO problems with these boards.

Did you do the CTRL F1 trick to expose all the hidden BIOS options (sorry if you already knew that!)

Some interesting stuff + dumb argument in the thread.

This guy couldn't get his PhII 940 to run, but thats a bit weird because I have seen few reviews of PhII with this board. Eventually though he said that some AMD support guy got him the bios (unreleased test version) that supports 940. The F3m.

This is what annoys me with Gigabyte, they do "tons" of different BIOS versions, but they don't keep them on their sites. I think that's lame. Of course it would be good if they had only the best performing and least buggiest version available but since that's not the case... They should have every single version available that they have come up with. Be it alpha or beta or anything. Some versions just works better for someone.

The thing he said about DCTs mode is noobish of course since it looks like he don't know how the ganged/unganged works. He just sees the number 64bit vs 128 bit and wants his RAM's to "run at 128 bit".

For the DCTs mode Gigabyte support answered:
"However, our engineers have tested these two features, the performance of Unganged Mode and Ganged Mode are almost the same, thus, it would not affect any performance on your motherboard. Sorry for the inconvenience."

If you think it was slow, you DONT want to see F3o in "action"! It was just horrible!

Not to mention how long it took to get back from bad oc...

Thats actually encouraging. I still have the board... If they fixed the POST and ACC cold boot problem, as well as general performance and fix Hybrid Crossfire (surroundview), then that would be awesome.

Your upload limit is full. Any other source for this BIOS or should I just wait for it to show on GBT's site? ...I bet it'll take weeks.

    Big Thanks chew*!

I will try both of those and post some pointers/changes if they'll do the job right or not.

Happy to see that this thread has been useful.

    loaded F3 yesterday.
was able to boot 3.9ghz @ 1.6v and run pi, install a few things. restarted...never booted again at that clock.
MUCH longer POST time than F3h (my previous BIOS)
    still can't break 2400mhz NB

EPP runs at 400mhz instead of 500mhz like stated in cpu-z?
    not familiar w/ this function...

i have a few things to do today but might put on F3i
