Foxconn A7DA-S gets new bios to support AM3

I just stumbled across this little gem. Looks like I won't have to buy a new MB for AM3 if there's a new CPU worth buying after PhII.

I'd be lying if I said I understood that either; I've never even had a DDR3 stick in my hand to be able to compare them.

In all honesty though, if I were buying DDR3 right now, I'd probably consider an i7 to go along with it.

you are dense man. The new Deneb cpus are AM2+ for 2 of them, then the rest are AM3. It is confirmed that the AM3 CPU's contain both ddr2 and ddr3 IMC's which means you can put them in either an AM3 board or an AM2+ board. That bios update is just that, adding support so that the motherboard can recognize the new deneb chips that AMD is releasing. THis has nothing to do with putting ddr3 into a ddr2 board. You obviously show your complete lack of knowledge of anything going on. I suggest you read more and post less so you dont make yourself look like a blithering idiot.

Sorry, I missed it. My life doesn't revolve around BIOS updates. My system is rock solid and I don't need them. The only reason I even looked in the first place was to see if it would support PHII.

The day this bios was released I was in Australia, so I guess I must have missed checking out the ol' xtremesystems forum that day.

Warning discussing 2 week old BIOS

Has anyone been able to change the NB frequency with the 06 BIOS.?
It shows a NB Clock in the BIOS but doesn't do anything - stays at 9x no matter where I set it.
Right now my system is at 3.0GHz (12x250MHz) and my NB is at 2250MHz which is 9x250.

Also having problems with the HT Link freq in any BIOS I've tried.
If I set it to 7x or lower it runs at 5x and if I set it at 8x or Auto I get a 9x multi.

Since my Toliman is locked I can only oc via HT bus speed so the HT and NB multi problems are killing me.

NB multiplier changing works for me with X3 3750 and X4 940.

Can you show a screenshot of the memory tab in cpu-z when NB-multiplier is set to lower (than default) value?

I'm currently not home, so I've got only a screen with an increased NB-Multi to 11.
