P4P800 + Mobile Celeron 1.8@3.3 Ghz, Time for Budget Overclocking!

Just purchased mobile celeron (second hand) 1.8 Ghz with D1 core. This puppy is quite good piece of an equipment for economy class overclocking.

With 256kb L2 memory it comes very close to its big brother P4. Default voltage is 1.3 so it gives you nice boost when you ramp up the voltage to 1.6v.

I have quite bad ventilation in my case and I'm using stock cooler (for 2.4b P4's). It goes up to 3.4, but with my memory and cooling system, I decided to back it down a little bit.

    And the results with P4P800:

Edit: Well, after I changed my memory chips to new ones I got it going 3.3 Ghz stable (KHX3000@230Mhz 2-2-2-5)

It might go with better cooling to 3.5 - 3-6 with air. MBM5 shows idle temps at 30C and load temps 40C, its quite low even if Asus shows temps little low.

So what does 3.24ghz on a celery = on a duron? Curious because Anandtech basically outright said that the P4 celery sucks ass since its cache is crippled.

Oh, stick a better cooler on that lil bastage... I wanna see another 100% oc.

That's why that mobile celeron is a lot more interesting than normal desktop celerons. It's L2 is 256kb as you can see in the screenshot.

my duron applebread with only 64kb L2 clocked to 2.1ghz beats your 3.2ghz mobile!!! and it clocks to 2.45ghz on air...

Well, I clocked the celeron to 2.9 Ghz and my P4 2.4b was also @2.9

Celeron resulted only 1000 points lower score in 3dmark 2001. Well, thats not too bad for celly.

Yes, probably your AMD will win, but does it fit on my Intel board ? I just showed that there is a budget cpu worth of checking on Intel side also.

Please, dont start another AMD vs Intel war. Of course you can compare those, but do it properly.

Ask DFI, they will without a doubt find a way.

Nice, sure it will fit if you press hard enough. Power does matter

I have always wondered why there are not "dual" motherboard available. Both AMD and Intel sockets in same board. If you get bored with one cpu supplier, you simply change the socket and cpu Then you dont have to worry about constant socket changes all the time.

    Hi There!

    I had a 4200 and 2.4b on Abit TH7-II and I scored ~12 000 with it. Abit TH7-II + GF4200

    With Willamette 1.6Ghz@1.8 GHz and GF4 in 3DMark 2001
    9480 marks @2001

And most important thing is that my Mobile Celeron has 256kb of L2 memory

frankie those are really low scores, you should stop playing with those mobiles, or are you just hunting for high %-age ocs?

Once again...For an cheap INTEL-CPU thats quiet good numbers! any desktop-celi couldn´t compare at any speeds! some lower clocked p4 with fsb 100 or 133mhz will loose too! Maybe u can produce some higher scores with some modded or maybe unmodded amd-cpus but nobody talks about that fact in this thread...we are talkin´about a ~50€ CPU...and thats imo very cheap for an intel-cpu...

it IS, but the scores are REALLY low and i think instead of trying another and another mobile it would be worth to get a 2.4c for... WTF? 150$? i thougt they were cheaper?

nevermind, for 1/3 of the price of a nortwood they oc and perform VERY nice!

EDIT: hmmm if i were you i would get a 50$ nf2 board and a 40$ duron though wich performs a lot better

For me its low-cost-clocking for fun...u can take any i845E or i845PE mobo and a c4m and u have a quiet performing rig for an absolutly low price! i´m using my c4m not for gaming so couldn ´t say something to this fact...but for crunching f@h they are just sweet. 2 of those rigs will need quiet the same power as a highly clocked p4c... encoding divx 3.11 with nundub and my c4m@2,7ghz on i845e beats my older xp-2400 on kt-266a - SSE2 is quiet nice in some cases... it only matters what u are doing with your rig...in some cases maybe amd will be the better choice but for me in most intel...
