Nice! I'm all over Q9650!![]()
Damn are you serious? As it is right now, I'm at 1.46 vNB just for 445FSB 3d-stable, but only for my e8400. I don't plan on going further than air cooling though...this make affect my decision to drop in a quad after all.
*ok oops - noticed you're talking about x38 and not P35. Hrmm.

there yo go bringing intel into a amd thread again lol, if that was someone droping a dig at amd you would be crying like a girl.qft!
Is upgrading from a Q6600 @ 3.86 to a Q9650 really worth it? Unless the Q9650 manages to hit 5Ghz 24/7 stable, even 4.5Ghz on 9650 is still ymmv, right.

These price cuts are more than predictable since intel announced low power Quads...Damn these are real expensive.
Theres a typo on the chart...It shoud be Q9550 Low Power, not Q9950...$367...gotta wait for another 775 price drop![]()
The Q9650s typically run 4Ghz on air. There is a thread here - http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...t=retail+q9650
volts @ 4Ghz around 1.29-1.3 average unless your one of the lucky dudes who can manage a 4Ghz with 1.21-1.22 volts
I've never run my Q9650 on air so I can't speak from experience although some quick tweaks in the BIOS and its 4Ghz no sweat

You definitely look like the former THG forum member you are and to top it off it seems like you have problems understanding what you read. Let me try to make it clear for you.
Here's the drop in you mentioned Q6600 --> Q9650 and he was planning.
And then he brings the fact that despite the inferior price of the 920, he would have to buy a new mobo and some DDR3 which would kill the bang for buck.
Got it genius?
So yes, he's speaking about upgrading his Q6600![]()

Another great strategic move for Intel. There still lots of computers left to be built and many that want to upgrade. These will sell even faster now. For those with boards that already support these, they'll be a quick upgrade.
Looks like they now have the High End Market with i7, the mid range market with these these, and I guess the next step for them will be the release of server i7 counterpart.
It's looking like another dominant year for Intel again. It's starting to look like that's gonna be the trend for many years to come. Just oustanding! Precisely what a well run company should be. They're gonna make tons of money, and that money will go into R&D, and grand times are ahead just like they are now. It pays to be a winner!![]()
