Nothing. This card isn't any more cumbersome and unwieldy than any other GX2 card in the past. I especially like the argument that it's too powerful, and nothing will be able to surpass it for a long time. That's certainly stopped the GPU industry before!
Some people here have lost their minds.

Anyone who would say this is too powerful would then have to say GTX260 SLI is also... which this basically is, but riding a single pci-e interface.

GTX 295 is like the super ugly child that nobody wants. You can tell how serious Nvidia takes this card by the poo design. Stopgap!![]()
I am excited for the GTX 285, though. Step-up time!![]()
For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.

Interesting this is gonna force the rpice of 4870x2's down and seems it may have forced the gtx280 down to a lil more than $300.
They're now on the egg for $500 by 4 manufacturers.
Sapphire's 4870 X2 is on the Egg for $399 after rebate. Granted it's a Sapphire rebate for $50 so all bets are off, but still, $400? Even if the 295 is just a step above vaporware if it forces prices down on the 4870 X2 then we all win.
Maybe not, but for God's sake, at least use the newest ones...drivers alone don't dictate the absolute performance of the hardware

Do you guys think that a Corsair HX 520W PSU could run this card? I'm currently using a GTX 280 @ 650core/1472shader/2300ram, Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.2ghz, 8GB RAM, X-Fi, 5 120mm case fans, 3 HDD's, etc. with it. I am taking one of the HDD's out shortly to put in a different system. I'm *this* close to selling my 280 and going for the 295, since I would need a new PSU for a second 280. I figure I can get $270-300 on the 'bay for the 280 I have, for an upgrade cost of ~200, vs. 300 for a GTX + 100 for a new PSU. I'm running 1680x1050, though I may upgrade to 1920x1200 at some point it won't be for awhile likely unless I skip this and go for a 23" S-IPS LCD :p.
I don't know how some of you manage to care so much about this card.
It's a solid competitor for the 4870X2, and that's it. Had it come out months and months
ago... It would be genuinely "exciting," but I think we're long past that point.
For someone whose waited this long for Nvidia's go at a dual GPU card, it will satisfy.

These cards are now for sale on Newegg:

$499.99 is the sales price!
This card should bring some green back in the mix to the top single card scores.
Hi all, which one would be better? 2x GTX295 or 3x GTX285? I don't know but I think the GTX295's would be better (I've seen some results here on XS and they are awesome), wouldn't they?
Sorry for my bad english.

As you can see, most games are a wash with the same playable in-game settings. So when it comes down to it the gameplay experience is the same between the BFGTech GeForce GTX 295 and AMD Radeon HD 4870 X2.
