Interesting thing is on both E8400/E8500 and the same Mobo, vNB and VTT both needed to be high, 1.49v and 1.50v respectively. Thumbs up 600 fsb and ddr3 2000mhz orthos stable on e8600 q822a435 on rampage

thought i'd see what fsb and ram speed i could get orthos stable on my e8600 Q822A435 on the rampage extreme, stopped it when over an hour (thats enough for me ), the q822a435 i have loves low volts and is orthos stable at 4360 at 1.272 volt real at a lower fsb and higher multiplier, but mine runs hot for the volts used, the cpu is on watercooling as is the northbridge

    Volts used
cpu 1.28 (1.2875 set in bios llc enabled)
    northbridge 1.54
    vtt 1.40
    ram 1.93
cpu pll 1.51 set in bios

Nice chip you have there. The lower 120 vids seem to run slightly warmer then the 126s though most scale up insane with good cooling.

thanks flesh ,yes the e8600 i have only needs low volts but once it goes over a certain voltage it just gets hotter and hotter even on watercooling

very nice Zeus i haven't tried orthos any higher than 4360 which too 1.272 volts real to be stable, it seems the q822a435 all seem to like the low volts but are hot little suckers for the volts used, i found the rampage board to be a bit weird to get stable with the higher ram speeds but once stable its rock solid

My 820A324 is certainly smooth on water with this P5K Prem, I have not tested Orthos with this chip yet as its still in the Torture rack but my CO 8400 needed 1.45v just to hold 4500 solid. I am waiting for my other P5Q Deluxe back in for a swap but even this board will do 545fsb which is decent. Max so far is 5200mhz at 1.7v. My girlfriend just got me a Rampage II Extreme for Christmas so I guess a I7 system is in the works pretty soon.

yummmm rampage II extreme , very nice, i'm not a big orthos fan to be honest an hours plenty imho, you've got some good results flesh , not many can post 5ghz benchmarks without using extreme cooling congrats m8

Thank You Sir, I am working on it when ever possible as I have a ton a new stuff to test. I currently have four Intel chips to play with in three different liquid cooled systems all built on CM stacker cases in my Comp room, it looks like a NASA lab. The last few days I have been testing Corsairs Dom 4G set at 4800 on the P5K with this 324 and its pretty good for a 4G set holding 576fsb at 5-5-5-15 60-8-12-11-3-8-5 at 2.1v, still working on it as I am sure there is more left but generally a very solid set of ram. Corsairs new GT line looks tasty for a I7 potential

we love it flesh just messing about for the sake of it,i think you had another good chip a bit back can't remember what it was maybe a e6850 or e8400 which you "revved the bo**ocks off" sort of speak, yes i have seen the gts they look excellent , the bandwidth on the i7's is amazing but to me the e8600's at 4.5ghz plus aren't far off the i7's performance wise and with the extra heat and cost, new cpu, motherboard i think i'll stay an e8600 man for now

I totally agree on the E also, for the money its the shad right now. In the future I7 will shine huge with a dual chip board like Skull.

    634fsb and ddr3 ram at 2113mhz on rampage extreme with e8600 (q822a435)

i thought i'd see what ramspeed and fsb i could do the everest memory benchmark at , this is using the 400 strap and loose memory subtimings and tref on ram set at 100 and running and on performance level 10 so not mind blowing numbers

    Volts used
cpu 1. 392 (1.4 set in bios llc enabled)
    northbridge 1.73
    vtt 1.40
    ram 2.04

cpu pll 1.51 set in bios

upped southbridge voltages to 1.6 (for the 1.5 one) and 1.1 (for the 1.05 one)

I had one (QHEX Q814A527 also) that did 4.3ghz @ 1.35v - that was the stable prime load max for less than 1.37v - however it did run fairly cool once lapped, see here:

If you can find a q822 stepping you have decent chances. Also for a "B" instead of an "A" stepping.
The magical steppings are the q822a435 and Q832B214. My e8500 step Q822A549 isn't bad either...

820-822s are pretty good from what I have seen. I just grabbed another one from the Egg though I do not know the stepping yet but my last one from them cranks and is a 820A324.

    Smile

I got another E8600 in yesterday and its a 823A221---1.26vid which is a new number to me that performance wise seems about average. Initial burn in last night with Orthos ran at 4500mhz at 1.37v bios, 1.7v CPU PLL, 1.3vFSB Term, 333strap, 1.4vNB, 1.2vSB, .59CPU GTL, .61NB GTL. This is on water with the chip on its own loop with a PA 120.3 and Fuzion block. The ram used for this was my 4G set of Corsair Dom not tweaked. The weekend is almost here so I should be able to run some major tests and find its limit then post the results.

I just finished some loops of 3DM06 and Cinebench R10 at 4600 without issue so its on to some 32m Pi for desert, should do 5G benchable once training is completed. My new Teamgroup 1300 got delayed about a week or more but I got some nice Ballistix and Gskill to play with for now.
