youll probably want to not use linpack, I think it doesnt support HT.

Couple of questions, anyone notice that if you boot the CD that came with the mobo it leads to RAID Drivers and soem version of freeDOS, that lets you enter even though it says something about it being an unstable version haha.

Secondly anyone know how to team the two network lans together with this mobo?

    190 = stable
    193 = unstable
    194 = impossible
over 194.. always sais LOCKED on LCD Poster, never got a DET DRAM message

I got a little closer according to the LCD Poster tho, 1 time it booted with 194.. but the CPU was running at 14.13GHz , the other times it showed DET DRAM and CHECK CPU, maybe 10-15sec between them.. but well.. there is some magic über wall between 193-194 for some reason

Tried bios 0804 & 0805, cpu voltages between 1.35 and 1.5, QPI 1.35 to 1.42, IHO 1.3, 1.65v mem, uncore always twice memory, removed 1 memory, HT&Turbo on/off.. it only booted 1 time.. and it said the CPU was running 14.13GHz so.. fail

    Im currently running:

    HT & Turbo: On
    Bclk: 190
    CPU: 3990MHz with 1.312v
    Memory 1527MHz 8-8-8-24-1T 1.65v

    I could run 180 bclk (3.8GHz) and memory at 1800MHz 9-9-9-26 maybe?

Still why wont it boot with anything above 193 bclk.. like all people in this thread have done it

Edit: Tried TurboV now.. changed from 190 to 193.. worked fine.. then.. BAM 194 the ultimate number of doom.. it worked for ~~ 7 seconds, when i moved the mouse it "lagged" frame by frame = something is very wrong with BCLK 194+, could the motherboard be broken somehow? Because I payed alot of money and I expect to get over 193..
    I dont think its broken..,
Is cooler mounted properly.., have you turned power savers in windows to Performance.., tested cas 9 ? 1.31 v-core and 3990 with HT on and turbo on is prolly not so stable.., to go 200 bclk with turbo and HT.., atleast 1.45 v-core in bios..
Have you tested raising v-core and bclk in Turbo7..? Getting more than 3990 with 1.31 wont happen..
Have patients.., you will find it... :-) .., why i´m saying 195 bclk is because I also have troubles sometimes booting with 200.., 195 works fine and then i step it up to atleast 210 with set fsb.. My v-core is 1.5 in bios...

This what I got on 3dmark06, I get 4000 less points with hyperthreading on at 4.3ghz....My shader mark 2.0 goes down 2000 marks with hyperthreading. I did notice that you guys have a higher cpu score than I do at 4.3 ghz with Ht on or off!

(New build):MSI Big Bang X-power II with XSPC MB blocks, Core I7 3930k@4.6Ghz with HT on, 3x GTX 480 SLI with EK Waterblocks(for now), X-fi Titanium, Gskill quad kit 16GB 2133mhz, 2x240GB Corsair GT SSD's(raid 0), 3xWD 2TB drives, Silverstone Strider ST1500 Watt, Dell3007WFP and 2x Samsung 305T's. Nice result what so ever! :-) You loose bout 1000 CPU points with HToff.. try lower v-core to 1.5 in bios.., keep settings but turn HT on..,
Somewhwre along the way we seem to lost ourselfs and we belive these lil cpu´s will go extremely high...

    920 2.66ghz and 4.0 is 50% OC..!!!

will we exspect the same from these cpu´s..?
    940 2.93ghz and 4.4 is 50% OC
965 3.20ghz and 4.8 is 50% OC !!! (not so many manage this without extreme cooling)

QX9650 3.0ghz and 4.5ghz is 50% OC (very hard to get on air stable.., need very good cooler or water)
E 8600 3.3ghz and 4.95ghz is 50% OC (also VERY hard to get with ordinary cooler...)

maybe we must lower expectations a bit or get better cooling.., yes..?

I had several QX9650.., one was very good.., did 5.5 with cascade.., 2 others only managed 5.2.., cpu´s are different
Cpu´s are different.., one that makes 4.4ghz is better ofcourse than the one only breaking 4.2.., but thats the way it is.., always been and always will be...

Everything is 100% stable at 193 bclk.. but when i go for 194.. no way in hell

    Mounted properly, yes
power settings performance, yes.. tho it dosnt have anything to do with booting
    cas 9 tested
Yes I have tried everything from 1.375v to 1.5v with 200 bclk, nothing works
When I set bclk to 194 or 200.. it freezes instantly.. I have not tried 210+ in SetFSB tho

Not stable with any less voltage than that....bluescreens after an hour or two...
I ran 3dmarko6 with HT on at 4.1ghz and only got 200 more points in cpu score, my overall score went down nearly 4000 points, snd the framerates are a lot lower with HT on....It's weird, one test will have good framrates and on the next test it will go way down....On the first test in 3dmark06 it will peak@171 FPS with HT on it peaks at 135FPS. If I keep stopping the test and restarting it, the fps will go up to 171, but the next tests drop back down.....could I have a bad CPU??

No.. not bad cpu.., its throttling.., try to find your sweetspot.., lower bclk.., lower v-core.., untill you find it...
When you do.., results will be stable and you will know where limit is with your cooling... use set fsb.., start like 160 bclk.., work your way up untill you see whre results starts to be all over the place.., and turn HT on.., thats the purpose with these cpu´s.. :-)

Stopping and starting 06 will get you lower results.., need fresh reeboot to run properly...

Take your time with this.., when you reach stable results everything will be alot easier.., you will have a baseline to work from...

Using SetFSB i can reach 193.7.. next step: 194.1.. guess what?

193.7 works for a while.. 194.1 = 99% unstable.. what happens is@ the mousepointer gets laggy like 3-5fps, along with everything else for a few seconds then it dies.. very strange

I still belive the motherboard is broken somehow

.., guess you found your cpu´s limit.., dont belive board is defective.., (but ofcourse it can be..) mess around with it for a while.., maybe you overseen something... try XP if you have it.., maybe you will spot a differens in handling...

cpus limit.. even when i run 19x multiplier and 200 bclk = 3800MHz it wont work so its not the cpu, i can run the cpu at 4060 using 193 bclk and turbo, all i want is 200 bclk so i can run 3.8/4.0ghz turbo w HT and 1600memory 8-8-8-24-1T, most people here can run it easily.. but I cant even get over 193 bclk .. The motherboard =

There are three options (which you should know if you have learnt the basics of overclocking):

    1. You have overlooked somethink and/or you don't have skills to overclock i7

    2. Your CPU is producing too much heat.

    3. You have found your CPU's limits and thus cannot simply overclock anymore.

    End of the story...

    And dont forget the 3xT-rule

    Tweak, Tweak and Tweak

Sometimes you have to use hours and hours in bios and win to get there you want.

I have a doubt as to what utility is reporting the correct vCore

    BIOS setting: 1.406v LLC disabled (134x30: 4030Mhz)

    Idle

    Everest 4.60.1599: 1.38v

my temps don't look too bad, cpu on a single water loop through 480mm rad....the cpu doesnt throttle when I am running prime 95, it only does that weird stuff in 3dmark06...

Wreckage, I think you need to get a better cooler, I am surprised you made it that far with the stock intel cooler!!

    kekekek turn of tide
last time ppl were always fussing about microns revisions
but theres a major droop on the qpi

Second that. I checked with a multimeter. Vcore in bios @ 1.35v is 1.37-1.38 real and vqpi 1.35 in bios is 1.32-1.33 real. So the vcore is overvolting slightly and vqpi is undervolting. I also will test with llc disabled.
