Using G.Skill PC8500 8gb, of the new BIOS's you have uploaded, which one contains better memory compatibility for this set of mem ?

Subjective. Theoretically V1 mBIOSes have the most memory compatibility.

hey Ket, wikid job on the bios'
could you recommend me a version, im running a Q6600 on P5Q Deluxe with Corsair PC6400 DDR2 @ 800mhz. i find that my pc become very unstable at FSB above 400 with Ram 1:1 other dividers fail quicker or wont boot. also the 400Mhz strap will not boot up the pc.

what version may be able to solve some of my problems, currently ive got 3.2Ghz 8X400Mhz ram 1:1 4-4-4-12 800mhz.

    thanks

AFUDOS method DOES work. Theres something your likely not doing quite right. Try the simpler approach, select "options" from the dropdown list of asus update and select "BIOS downgradable"

    Not works for me.
    Type
    C:\ afudos.exe /ip5q-e-~1.rom /PBNC /N
But stay in message "advance checking"........... for half hour.

download the AsusUpdt61002.zip from here and tick "bios downgradable" in options

New BIOS versions in the works! These are HIGHLY EXPERIMENTAL! I'm pulling some aspects of the X48 and attempting to meld them. Due to unknow behavior, to start with the only boards that will have these BIOSes are the boards with dual BIOS chips. If all goes well the other boards will follow with their own versions.

Heres the experimental BIOSes. Take heed of the warnings in my last post, though being dual BIOS boards, theres no danger. As usua, give feedback.

    Great work Ket:

I am confused about the Memory "enhanced" BIOSs. Should I flash the V1 version for P5Q Deluxe or the non V1 version in the pack for enhanced memory compatibility? Please advice

Its all subjective and theoretical, the best I can advise is try both.

Having problem OC proc above 4ghz (see specs below)
It seems the memory doesn't like running at it's standard speed (1066) & even if i lower it, i always get blue screens / no boot as soon as i go over the 4ghz mark.
I'm using Ket's latest BIOS (used most previous too) but i can't seem to get stablized.
Is this because i'm using all mem slots or am i just asking for too much of an overclock - with watercooling & various vdimm, processor i think is not the problem?
Mem tested RAM - all ok

    Opinions & advice welcome

    Hi Ket!

I experimented with the 1611m bios for P5Q, with the memory ocing, that I formley told, I have problem with. The 4x1 GB configuration there was no way to stabilize the over 1150, only booted on 1160. I had the idea test the ram modules singly, one by one, only if they boot on a higher frequency...and if they boot!!! The worst booted on 1240 with 2,1V the best was 1280 with the same voltage. Thexy posted at even on 1340 Mhz(!!!) with 2,1V. So I decided to test them for a boot in pairs. I tested the al of the possible combinations all off the pairs, and all of the slots!!! The result was that it is not same with every slot and every ram combo. The board loses much stability in dual channel, mostly when the inner slots are taken. I mean from left to right direction the yellow and the black slot. Mostly here the pairs booted only on 1160 - 1180. The outer slotst where better in dual, I managed to boot on 1200 and it was quite stable, I could surf on web etc..but it wasnt memtest stable, even if I bumped the voltage over 2,1V. The best they ran in single channel, the highest freq here was 1260( boot but not stable ), mostly 1240. I read abuot the other stuff I dindt knew before in BIOS, and I read about this skew thing. In other P5Q series BIOS-es there is a feature in BIOS, which can tune the dram clock skew( I dont remember exactly what board ). Someone wrote, that tweaking this could be solve such problem, cause this problem is becasue the clocks of the slots are not highly precise syncronised at high frequencies, and with this option one could manually tune them together. Could be this feature implemented with a moded BIOS for P5Q? Or do you have an idea, if there 's a nother way to solve this problem with a BIOS mod, or just with setting some options to correct values with one of the current BIOS-es?

BTW I see You are a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fan as well, so do I Grat for Your mod

All, and I do mean ALL OC results are subjective. No 2 systems will behave the same. Using all 4 DIMMs you are putting a lot more stress on the memory controller, which means you will need a higher voltage and looser PL setting to stabalise things.

DL and try the earliest Vista release? Makes sence for a first release it would use an old formula slightly rehashed.

    Hi Ket

Tried raising the vcore to 1.275 - even went to 1.35 but still no luck - guessing the mem is still unhappy with the faster FSB's.
Any other settings (n/b s/b volts, Ai transaction Booster) that are worth changing to make mem more compatible ?

    Thanks for your reply
