Looks like i wont get to test out the PSU theory hondaguy, my 79-t is acting up, im not sure whats going on with it. Was taking my wb off and a bit of glycol slipped past the oring onto the board, not much, and it was an easy cleanup. But some of it got underneath the heatpipe assembly that covers the nb/sb/fets, removed that, cleaned up the board, let it air out a bit. When i went to put the heatpipe assembly back on, i couldnt reuse the thermal gunk that was on it, put some as5 on instead, now im having problems booting. It will boot into windows for about 10 minutes, then it just turns off, turn it back on, and it'll load windows for a couple of minutes, then shuts off. Every restart shuts down sooner and sooner, until it wont post. If i leave it for a couple of hours, it will boot windows again for about 10 minutes and the cycle repeats. Im thinking its not anything to do with the glycol spill, as it wouldnt work period if it had shorted out and fried something. Im thinking maybe its not remounting properly on the other chips. I've mangled up the heatpipe a bit so that i could put a small ramsink on the sb to see if that mount was bad, but the sink doesnt even get warm, and i get the same shutdowns. My mb temps read from bios and windows are all under 30c, which im thinking is the nb temp, so thats not hot. maybe its the pwms? all seems kind of wierd, especially since i've seen pwms run naked before so they shouldnt go thermal with stock clocks and volts, but nothing i seem to do helps...

There is no way I can get close to those frequencies with the 2 x 2GB sticks I got in my sig, was trying to challenge Clusters records today but failed miserably, did manage to get a 1M run under 22 seconds though

If these are the right sticks I can grap them and then have another go at claiming VICTORY

This rig is stable at 3.6 Ghz for browsing the web not much more than that mind you, lol
    Im invisable

Could someone please answer this question, its not nice being ignored

Are these the nice sticks of ram you guys are using for 600+ mhz....

Oh I get it you guys are scared of me beating your records, lol

Woot, cheers dude , ok will grab a set, Im gunning for your records

I asked a question in the 'Xtreme Bandwidth' forum regarding the PC 10400 Team Xtreme memory.

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=102

Has anyone tried these on an AMD platform?

Am very interested to see what can be done with this DFI board and high memory speeds

never used the ram, but im curious as to how that DFI board does. Having just fried my 79-t, im looking at possibly changing. How does the dfi handle high voltages? i've had this 79-t running 1.9vcore without a sweat, the only thing i dont like is the voltage wont go over 2.5v. I cant get a 79-t very cheap in canada, but i've seen those m2rsh go for a decent bit cheaper.

Oh man I dont have the cooling to pump 1.9v through my CPU, LOL, also dont have a replacement processor to try this

When you say you dont like that the voltage wont go over 2.5v you are talking abt the memory voltage not the CPU voltage

Remember that it has been said that its not wise to use more than 2.3v-2.4v with these CPU as you may end up with a dead IMC. I cant say ive tried this but be warned.

Oh and yeah the DFI goes wayyyyyyy past 2.5v, LOL

If you want exact details please post in this format of what you want to know, i.e.

    CPU-VID: Max
    NB-VID: Max

    etc etc

The only thing I believe holding back my overclocks is that NB-VID maxes at 1.550v, havnt found a way to go past this.........

ya, for the 2.5v i meant ram. I've run 2.5v 24/7 on my cheaper ram. It just takes a bit more cooling. Also i think it might have to do with the asus board having great pwm. 8+2 phase is the best i've seen for any board, which is why i went with it. And ya, the 1.9vcore does take nice cooling. I had 24c core load temp with 1.85vcore and 3585mhz, not that i need that many volts, i just wanted to keep my water warm

ya it sucks, i bought mine for 229, now the same shop has them listed for 259. i think i may have found my problem though, seems theres a bit of glycol in the socket, but im not really sure how to get it all out, afaik, glycol doesnt evap all that easily.

    Hey all, again!

Can anyone tell my what is highest FSB frequency for Phenoms (not PII)?
I can't reach 260FSB, no matter what voltage I change.
I think this is FSB wall for this chip... Can anyone confirm it? Or where can I find highest FSB frequency for those Phenoms (not PII).
This is what i reach for now... Hope i get 5MHz higher =P

I dont want to make my AMD to be defekt, what are safe voltages for NB VID, NB, HT and SB? I was running them @ 1.28V, 1.24V, 1.32V and 1.26V (stock)

Hmm i have Same 9950 and Mobo..Your half way there...

I dont Know the Highest HTT Air or Water but i have Seen HTT300+ and personally have done 292+ on this Mobo with(B3 and B2).

Those voltages are fine... trust me..
Its when you go above 1.55v for CPU/NB(Max Rated Volts VID per AMD for Phenom on full Load B3) . Thats when you need better than stock cooling. 1.6v or higher i recomend Custom WATER Cooling like Atripple Rad or even two for real good cooling and Also a big understanding of how volts and heat affect the chip at low and high freqencies...

B3 can do good and with cheap mobos and some of the best up to HTT250 easy. For above that ,,Ive found you have to be persistant and go through all the settings. Eventually you will reach your Goal. It will go Higher and sometime you may need to reflash your Bios if its a older Version. Most new Bios Ver, usually clock higher than previouse versions and some can be worse.

\On the ASUS M3A 79-T (403 and Higher Bios) my max has been HTT292 with B3 Phenom(NOT PHII) this again will may go higher once i get New Asus Bios. B3 's ive seen around 260/270HTT on average . Most people keep the HTT kinda low and just use the CPU x Multi.

I like to push things,, except when outa Fuel.

I was going for HTT300 with 3.5ghz. but instead settled for 3.6ghz @ HTT267 3.55ghz is my 24/7 setting . I use HIGHVolts on CPU and NB . There is no safe zone once above a certain point.

Matter of fact ive had Stock Voltage B2 Chips fail before any of my Overclocked Ones. Due to Low volts from when Phenom First came out. B2's a dont like below 1.18v for CPU/NB.

B3's are night and day and i still wont run below 1.20v .On any Phenom because of the early days .

    Tnx for the tips/hints.
    I think i don't have to go higher with Vcore, because I'm running my Phenom under SS (CB @ -50°C) idle@ -47.5°C and load @-47°C at 3.5GHz @ 1.22V.
I will reflash mobo tomorrow and then try to reach your HTT frequencies.
    TNX again.
