    [Mini test] - ASUS 4870X2 TRI-FANS

Arrived new, 4870X2 product called name is "TRI-FANS" from ASUS. (Last versions: Asus 4870X2 , ASUS 4870X2 TOP). Everybody know reference cooling system, and BIOS is not the best, and cards very hot. ASUS knew that, so changed cooling system, and reprogrammed BIOS, and new card was born..

    BOX:

    Extreme Thermal, TRI-FANS solution:

    CARD:

    HEATSINK:

    FETS:

    TRI-FANS, Y.S.TECH:

OC: Overclocking is "normal" (usually higher overclockable than other brands) from ASUS, so card could do 830-840/950-975.

COOLING PERFORMANCE: I used Furmark stress test, and ran until 5min, then stop.

    CONCLUSION:

The card have a great cooling solution. I remember, when first 4870X2 arrived, and it was 110C after 3 minutes ATiTool stress. Fan control is working very well as AUTO(it seems BIOS good too), but fan speed almost 100% at Load. So, quite loud, but much quiter than reference cooling system. Ideal fan speed is between 50 and 70 percent, so that was reason I set 60% for OC test, other way 90C+ with 50% fan speed for sure.

    Nice!

Can you rip off the cooler / heatsinks, so we could see the whole PCB?
    Thanks!
You are as good as your samples are!

Is the bios like other cards where the temperature has to hit a certain point before the fans will spin up properly?

IE: My card needs to hit about 96c on "MEMIO" for the hot core before the fan will spin to 95-100% then the temperature will fall while fan speed maintains top speed and will average about 85-88c for MEMIO on the hot core depending on the game/program.

MEMIO is the hottest part of the core, it is average 9-12c hotter than the actual measured part of the core in CCC.

All along the watchtower the watchmen watch the eternal return.

I didn't check MEMIO, but coolers gradually up, and about on 70C almost 90%. This cooling don't give any chance the card overheat!

@over@locker886...isn't that a reference card underneath the tri-fan setup? In otherwords, would an EK 4870X2 block fit on this card?
