I agree, just as I said a few posts back This is a very young product and will mature with time Those who RMA'd for good will regret doing so, those who RMA'd for something else, because it didn't 'bark' or 'sit' when told so, should never be allowed near a board of this class......end of.

Other than a PCp800 socket 478 board which had voltage stability problems, every other Asus board I have had has been awesome and they do cross ship when you RMA(I had an A8n32-sli board that a faulty powersupply killed). My EVGA 790i was nothing but problems for me, I RMA'ed twice only to learn that there was no way to get an X-fi Titanium PCI Express to work with the board with Quad sli and I can't stand onboard sound...EVGA's customer service is awesome though! I didn't get the EVGA X58 due to having to use onboard sound if using tri sli since there is no top 1x pcie slot....

Can you put a soundcard into the bottom PCI-E slot? Im putting 2 GTX280's in the 1st and 2nd one's (they will be right next to eachother) so i want to put a X-FI Titanium PCI-E soundcard in that last slot.

I cant put the 2nd GTX280 into that last PCI-E slot cause my PSU is on the bottom, card doesnt fit at all.. not even close

So can i put a X-FI into that slot?

They told me it works x-fi fits in a pci-x16 slot, but sli will still work?

Cause in a reveiw i read that the motherboard will display some sort of warning that the card is not in the right slot? Can you confirm that?

Hopefully not, I'm really looking forward to a BIOS that will fix the cold boot issue.

Sounds fake. What's the point of a fake BIOS though?

Man, people just like to cause a hassle for others for no reason...

Only use Beta BIOS's if you know the individual that made them, and know they are safe. Either that or only use BIOS versions from Asus. You could really get nailed bad, and loose ALL of your hardware. Downloading a BIOS from a complete stranger especially overseas could get you something like Chernobyl. Anybody remember that? It was a Virus that killed hardware. It would do nasty things like reset your voltages for you...to a setting you would not like after it burned up your hardware.

I wish I could edit the BIOS myself Maybe I'd be able to turn off the TDP limit without waiting for Asus to give us the feature (if ever).

I replaced all the fans in my Spedo Case and got the temps down. Im not complaining so far. There is alot of fuzz about the turbo issues and the cold boot problems. I dont have either....The system is running stable @:

    HT OFF
    Turbo ON
    Vcore 1.35 in bios
    LLC enabled
    Vqpi 1.35 in bios
    Vdimm 1.65 in bios
    Uncore 3200
    Mem x8
    DDR1600
    7-8-7-20-1T
    Blck 201
    The rest on Auto

The only problem i see @ this moment is the RAM bandwith. I cant get anything over DDR1600 stable. If i try to up the uncore speed wich gives more bandwith i get freezes. This is strange because the Corsair will do DDR1600 7-8-7-20-1T @ 1.65v. Lets wait on a new bios. Im sure Asus doesn't want to many potential customers walking over to the competition, and there is stiff competition like Bloodrage, EVGA and DFI.........

I don't think they are worried of people "walking over" to the competition. Try selling your board...you will never find a buyer unless you are willing to lose $200 in the deal. Those of us who bought this board and are out of the timeline for a refund are going to stay with it, regardless. Selling it will be next to impossible.

By the way, I run the Dominator DRAM at 1600MHz with 7-8-7-20-1T with 1.57731V DRAM and 1.30000V QPI/DRAM (VTT). I ran 1800MHz 8-8-8-24-2T stable before using 1.67006V DRAM, 1.35000V QPI/DRAM (VTT) (never tried to tighten timings or lower volts on 1800MHz configuration).

OK 10th day without the cold boot issue now, seems like the 0805 BIOS fixed something Only thing other than the BIOS, i'm running my OCZ's @ 1,65V 1600MHz, 9-9-9-24 instead of the default 8-8-8-24!
Gotta have to see if that got something to do with it? But so far so good, running like a charm now

I aint selling......I had the Gigabyte UD5 two days after intro here the Netherlands, with the same memory and CPU. After three days the Gigabyte didnt boot anymore. I took forever to boot but had a very good memory bandwith. After the RMA i took the R2E. I know this mobo will get better after a few more bios updates. My last Gigabyte experience was not so happy

Well, I've been pretty much an exclusive Asus customer for the last 12 years and their boards have been stellar. I cannot say the same about R2E however, but I am hoping that this will change with a few more BIOS revisions.

Alright here are the settings to reach 4.0 Ghz with a Core i7 920. This will allow you to get 4.0 Ghz on all cores and 4.2 Ghz in turbo mode. This will really help your Super PI Scores. Note: Try my CPU voltage first. If it still blue screens that is a sign that you need more voltage. If it does'nt blue screen then you can try to back it off a little at a time. Do this in .05 increments. For Example 1.43 then 1.38 then 1.33. The same goes when increasing your Vcore Voltage. Print this post out and follow the settings EXACTLY!
Just tried your settings tonight and I have mine now clocked @ 4Ghz, OCCT, Prime stable etc. 1.43v vcore. This is with HT off.

With HT on, it blue screens within 10 minutes of testing every time, I've been up to 1.48v vcore.

Blue screen message is always the same - "A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within an allocated time"
    Error 0x101

Other than that, its OK, but I wish I had the eight threads instead of four

I went through TWO Gigabyte EX58 Extremes and will be sending them BOTH back for a full refund next week. The slow boot you described was the least of my problems and I was able to resolve it. The 4 minute Vista boot usually resulted on my system after an OC crash. Clearing CMOS and re-doing my BIOS settings took care of it each time. The S3 sleep problems and the bad SATA ports were the last straws for me. I'm looking to get either the RIIE or EVGA as a replacement - but no more Gigabyte for me (probably ever).

After some extra investigation i found that in my case the CPU Amplitude Control option in the BIOS gave me the same speed @ noticable lower voltages.
    I set it to 1000mv.

Vcore from bios 1.35 to 1.34
Vqpi from bios 1.35 to 1.34
Vdim from bios 1.65 to 1.61

Resulting is lower temps. This is with turbo on, HT off. HT does not add stability in games. Only useful for me when encoding.

Nice findings. I will try this out later to confirm. Any news how the Amplitude affects the CPU it's self? does it raise the increase of likely damage to a i7 or is 1000mv fine? I've seen most people run it at 700mv to 800mv
