Well, here's my new 24/7 OC. It's not the greatest chip, not the worst. Coming from an E4400 it's sure made me happy!

    FPO/Batch #: Q829A078
    Pack Date: 9/8/08
    500 x 8.5 = 4.25GHz @ 1.344v

still havent got mine running right, for some reason it looks like i am the only person that owns a e8500 from batch Q750A071, i dont see any Q750 in the 8500 list at all and am running 440x9.5 atm @ 1.35v but it isnt stable at all, i dont really think i have passed orthos on anything other then stock with this guy! Been tempted to give it up and throw him in ebay and get myself a E8600 and try from there, was really happy to get this CPU after reading all the tests on it but mine doesnt clock at all!

    Anyone got a suggestion?

Anyone help me out with some overclocking? I have the E8400 FPO/Batch# Q833A110. Im running an Asus P5Q board, Ive been testing stability with Intel's Burn Test and get it to pass level 2 stress @ 10 passes with any settings but fails level 1 immediately. At idle Im sitting 31 / 29 and under stress test 2 I maxed out at 61 / 61.

    System:

    E8400
    Asus P5Q Pro
    Corsair 650TX
    G. Skill DDR2-1066 4GB
    EVGA 9500gt
    Ultra Chilltec CPU Cooler

    Settings:

    FSB 450
    Multiplier 9.0
    DRAM DDR2 Frequency - 1081
    SB 1.20
    NB 1.40
    CPU GTLREF 0.63x
    PLL 2.0
1.33v but shows up as 1.312 in cpu-z

some voltages are too high :

    Vnb : 1.24 max
    GTlLref: 0.61
    PLL : don't go higher than 1.7 for benchs /1.5 for 24/7

try again with those voltages, il could be better!

I need help with OCing my E8400 to 4.0 GHZ. I recently just got

    Asus P5QL PRO
    E8400
    Antec 900
    GameXstream 600 watt

I have the E0 stepping, and I heard they can OC like mad, like 4.5 on air. I hit 3.6 GHZ by just changing the FSB, then when I hit 3.8 it wouldn't boot, so I only changed the FSB voltage to 1.3v and the NB to 1.2 and it works. I have no errors on prime 95 at all, not even once. This is where I hit a road block. As soon as I go past 430 FSB, there's a 50% chance it won't boot (post) and will reset. When it does boot, prime 95 runs perfectly stable, and so does the rest of my PC. I just don't get it. It's perfectly stable, but my motherboard is lazy to post at that speed. Temps are 41C after 2 hours of prime 95 on Freezer 7 pro. I thought it was my old Corsair DRR2667 ram thats running at 845 mhz, but prime 95 Ram test still has no errors after 2 hours. I tried changing ram timings, nothing. Tried changing CPU voltage, ram voltage, nothing. FSB and NB seemed to get me to 3.8, but I can't get past it. I'm thinking it's just the board, but I also haven't tried SB voltages or CPU stew settings, and a bunch of others, but they don't really seem relevant.

If anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it.

NB probably needs more juice for that high of an fsb.
If you increase multi back to 9 and drop fsb for same ghz you might get it (if you don't bump up NB).

I got my new E8400 E0 this afternoon, and so far I'm pretty amazed. I thought this cpu was a dud at first, as it would not boot above 4.0 GHz at any voltage. Then I turned down the VTT to 1.1v and now it o/c like crazy! Here is as far as I got with the ram @ 585 Mhz with 2.1v. I tried 4460 MHz with the same settings, but Orthos crashed...still much tuning to do!

try 8.5 then @ 445, why wont it go to 9? It should standard.

Also try 500 x8 etc etc, a bit of trial and error. Dont just select one and then give up the ghost

Get the FSB first as i (like others) reckon its the ram, when your running that high in 1:1

Anyone still using an Abit IP35 pro with E8400?

    Possibly Gskill F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ ram?

If so, could you post your settings. I am running into some problems after trying to get 500 FSB and it's not running stable now.

    Thank you
