    Finally I will get myself some SSD's as soon as these models come out. I've been patiently waiting a few years, would have gone with current generation if not for stuttering/jmicron controller issues.

    Probably two for my desktop, one for my brother and one for my girlfriends laptop and possibly one for my mothers and fathers desktop.

    pricing looks awesome as well. Intel is planning on charging nearly $1000 for the x25M 160 GB. For much less than that you can raid couple of these puppies and have high performance even with the onboard raid (no more suttering with these drives)

    I was going to get a Core V2 so I just have Vista on it, but maybe I should wait to see how these are.
    Hell with luck they'll just lower Core V2 prices

    I hear that, I wouldn't mind getting two for my laptop and one for my desktop.

    Vertex Series coming soon ("available shortly") in a major shop here in Greece:

    30GB -> 149 euro
    60GB -> 259 euro
    120GB - > 589 euro (a bit pricy!)
    250GB -> 1099 euro

    In Europe, we are getting IT products in 1$ = 1 euro, so those are probably the prices (in dollars) in the US.

    Those prices in Greece make it barely cheaper than X25-M... until X25-M drops price end of year?
    Benches needed ASAP.

    +1! As soon as these appear on Newegg.com I'll order my rig. I can't wait to ditch the $300 Areca card with 256mb of cache since it won't be necessary with the Vertex. I'll save a lot of money on this build because of that.

    I'm just guessing here, but I would imagine that your Areca raid controller will perform better than any onboard controller device no matter how much cache is on those vertex's. A single drive may not show a huge difference, but I bet 2 or more should.

    The only reason I would get a controller is to get rid of the random write stuttering problem cacheless SSDs have. If the cache on these Vertex SSDs get that job done then I will have no worries. The performance issue won't be a problem as SSDs blow away HDDs. At that point a $300 RAID card won't be worth a few megabytes per second. Now if we see throughput gains of tens of megs then I will reconsider.

    Really though, this is just speculation until we see benchmarks. They may under perform, perform as expected (no stuttering at least), or perform beyond our wildest expectations. Their new controller is under NDA until they are released it seems. I hope these drives hit before the end of this week while I'm still in the buying mood.

    I asked over at the OCZ forums and they are still tight-lipped about it due to the NDA. Apparently, they don't want early word getting out about the controller. The latest is:
    Limited availability before end of the year.. more widespread in January.
    Which was kinda what we knew but at least they took the time to answer. Their support is generally very good.

    Dang....

    I hate to wait until January, but I suppose I'll get to see the Phenom II 940 in action come that time.

    Holy smokies - I'm getting 3 64GB in RAID0 to replace my 3 Velociraptors in RAID0. This is gonna be freakin' awesome.

    We need some benchmarks NOW.

    Oh, and found this:

    You may really need to consult the OCZ forums about your problem. Also look for the posts that talk about the Adaptec 2405 with SSDs here on XS.

    EDIT: What tweaks have you already tried? Also, try some of these tweaks from other posts and OCZ Forums...

    Thinking the same myself.. Can't wait to see some reviews or at least hear from someone whos tested it.. If they dont stutter the only question is how many, not if I'm going to buy.

    Very expensive. I will buy one HDD from this as OS HDD, that's enough.
